What's Changing for 2020-2021
Below is a quick a recap of what is changing and why it is important
Medical - TRS will transition from Aetna to Blue Cross Blue Shield and provide a new plan offering. You do not have to change plans if you don't want to. Though many plan features are similar, the networks will be changing. It is important to ensure your doctors are in network. If you are in the middle of care, you may need to have your doctor re-submit prior authorizations. Pricing, network, and transition links are available below. TRS has new assistance number for the 2020-2021 plans at 1-8666-355-5999.
Dental - The annual benefit maximum is changing to a 9/1 plan year. Previously, the plan year was 9/1-8/31, and the annual benefit maximum was a 1/1-12/31 calendar year. Changing to 9/1 will bring all plan and benefit years in line. This means if you have exhausted your dental benefits this year, you will be eligible for dental benefits early, on 9/1 instead of 1/1.
ID Theft - The district will moving from ID Watchdog to ID Guard. The price will be a little less for the same benefits.
HSA - The District will be moving from NBS to EECU, providing the same HSA benefit but with local branch customer service access and no monthly fee. Flexible Spending and Dependent Care accounts will remain with NBS. HSA elections roll over automatically; if you do not actively choose to enroll or decline, your current election will continue and you will start with EECU 9/1. You will have the option of transferring remaining funds from NBS to EECU. NOTE: Your household may not be enrolled in both an FSA and HSA during the same plan year.
Individual Life - The District will not be offering Individual Life policies for 2020-2021 (voluntary group life is still available). Those currently enrolled in an individual life policy with 5Star will continue their policies unless they actively decline them. Rates will not change for those currently enrolled.
TRS ActiveCare Medical
This year, TRS will transition from Aetna to Blue Cross Blue Shield and provide a new plan offering. Though many plan features are similar, the networks will be changing. It is important to ensure your doctors are in network. Network information will be available in June.
