  • Grace E. Hardeman Elementary School Drop off and Pick-up Procedures

At Grace E. Hardeman, we use a card system to match students with their guardian at dismissal. This process provides the safest and quickest possible pick-up for your child. The first day of school, you will be issued a card with your child’s name on it. You must have it visible on your car dashboard as you pick up in the pick-up lane. If you choose to park and walk up to get your child, you must show the card to the teacher to pick-up your child. If you forget or misplace your child’s card, you will be asked by the teacher to go inside the office, show ID, gain a temporary card and then return to the teacher. This process will be enforced after all the parent information meetings have been held for each grade level.

In order to assist in safe traffic flow, please follow these instructions:

    •  Enter the school property using the front driveway on Whispering Lane to access the pick-up lane.
    •    To access parking spaces enter the school property from Warrior Way or Whispering Lane.
    •  When dropping your students off in the morning, please drop them off at the curb by the front entrance between 7:30 and 8:00 am.
    •  In the afternoons, please keep the traffic moving along the curb until you reach your child’s pick-up point. Pre-K – 3rd grade will be dismissed from the front of the school.
    •  Please keep traffic flowing along the inside curb closest to the building. DO NOT LEAVE your car unattended in the drop off lane at any time. This is drop off and pick-up zone only. The drop off/pick-up area needs to keep moving in order for all students to be picked up in a safe and timely manner. If you need to leave your vehicle, you MUST park in designated parking spaces.
    •  There are two lanes of traffic in the front drop off zone. The second lane is NOT for student drop off, pick up or for waiting traffic. This is a moving lane only.
    •  You also have the choice of parking in our school parking lot and walking to the teachers to pick up your student.
    •  Parking is only in designated parking spaces. Parking is not allowed along any curb or behind parking spaces.
    •  If there is not a drop off spot available next to the curb, please continue around the traffic pattern until one becomes available.
    •  The 4th – 5th graders will be picked up on Warrior Way on the south side of the building. This will be two-way traffic. Pickup is only available on the north side of Warrior Way so your car will be facing west toward Maurie. Please remain in your vehicle at the curb and move forward as students are picked up. If you are going to park and get out of your car, please park along Maurie or in the parking lot at the front of the building. There is no stopping or parking on the south side of Warrior Way. This will help prevent traffic from coming to a standstill.
    •  The west parking lot is for buses and daycare drop off and pick-up only. Please do not drive through or park in the west parking lot.
    •  You may park on the street along Maurie Drive and the south side of Whispering Lane.  For you and your child’s safety, please use all crosswalks when crossing in the street or parking lot. Crossing streets and parking lots at cross walks also provides for smooth traffic flow.
    •  Also, please remember to always bring your dismissal card. A parent who does not have their child’s card will be asked to park, go inside the office, show ID, gain a temporary card and then return to the teacher. If you need an additional card, please contact the office for a replacement card.
We appreciate your support in making Hardeman a safe and friendly environment for everyone. For any questions please contact our office at (817)547-2800
