Recognitions

  • City Point United Methodist Church

    Recognized City Point United Methodist Church for their support of Binion Elementary. The church provides volunteers to mentor with Academy 4, sponsors a Reading Club for kindergarteners, and organized a Back-to-School Bash that provides students and parents with essential items like backpacks, clothes, and school supplies, along with classroom supplies for teachers.  

    Creekside church

    Recognized Creekstone Church for their support of Holiday Heights Elementary and Richland High School. The church provides Holiday Heights staff with supplies and gift cards, ensuring they have the resources they need. In addition, they provide meals for the Richland High School boys basketball team. 

    Richland High School Band

    Recognized the Richland High School marching band for advancing to the 2024 UIL State Marching Contest. Richland competed in the 5A competition and placed 15th out of more than 38 bands at the State UIL competition in San Antonio. The head band director is Mike Pickrell.   

    Sofia Phillips

    Sofia Phillips, Birdville High freshman, was recognized for placing fourth at the 2024 UIL 5A State Cross Country competition.   

    Finance Department

    Recognized BISD’s finance department for receiving the 2024-25 Association of School Business Officials International Meritorious Budget Award. This award reflects BISD’s commitment to sound fiscal management and budgetary policies.

  • Approved revisions to the following Board Policies: 

    • GKD (LOCAL) Community Relations: Nonschool Use of School Facilities [replace]
    • DGA (LOCAL) Employee Rights and Privileges: Freedom of Association [replace]
    • FM (LOCAL) Student Activities [replace]
    • FNAB (LOCAL) Student Expression: Use of School Facilities for Nonschool Purposes [replace]
    • GE (LOCAL) Relations with Parent Organizations [replace]
    • EHBE (LOCAL) Special Programs: Bilingual Education/ESL [replace]

    Approved the resolution casting votes for Fred Campos and Wendy Burgess in the Tarrant Appraisal District Board of Directors election.   

    Approved revising the school colors for David E. Smith Elementary from blue and red to blue and orange. The mascot will remain the lions. 

    Approved the annual financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024. 

    Approved budget amendments. 

Bids/Contracts/Final Payments Awarded

  • Approved the bids/purchases for: 

    • Supplemental retail and groceries from multiple vendors; and
    • HVAC upgrade at the Plaza for the Clothes Connection from American Mechanical Services. 

     Approved the final payment to:  

    • Morgan Electric, Inc. for electrical projects at Foster Village Elementary.  

    Approved the contract from: (Funds come from Bond 2022 funds) 

    • Freedom Construction for the press boxes (amendment). 

     Approved the Multi-Region Purchasing Cooperative Interlocal Agreement.

Future Board Meeting

  • Thursday, December 19, 2024, Regular Board Meeting, open session at 7 p.m., Boardroom. 

Special Session

  • The board met in special session on November 19 and took the following action: 

    Canvassed the votes of the November 5, 2024 bond election.
