    Darrell G. Brown, Ph.D.
    BISD Superintendent 

    Darrell G. Brown, Ph.D. joined Birdville ISD as Superintendent in July 2011. He began his career as a secondary mathematics teacher in Teague ISD. He then moved to Huntsville ISD where he worked eight years, first as a secondary mathematics teacher and then in campus administration. Dr. Brown was the coordinator of mathematics from 1997-2000 in Conroe ISD and assistant superintendent for curriculum, staff development and accountability in Katy ISD from 2000-07. Before joining BISD he served as Superintendent of Schools for Forney ISD, where he led Forney ISD from an acceptable school district to an exemplary district in three years.

    He graduated from The University of Texas at Tyler in 1985 and received his masters from Sam Houston State University in 1992. He received his doctoral degree from Texas A&M University in 1997. Dr. Brown and his wife Dana have three children - a son Tyler, daughter Kylie and daughter Kyndall.

    Dr. Brown currently serves on the ESC Region 11 Superintendent's Adviosry Council and has served on the 2015-17 Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) Member Services Committee, 2005-07 executive committee and board of directors of the Texas Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (TXASCD). He also has been involved in TEA’s Student Assessment Division/State Board of Education's Work Sessions concerning the TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) test.
