    Middle School Accelerated Learning

Middle School Summer School is for students entering grades 6-8.  BISD Summer School teachers will get to know their students well and understand where and how they need to develop in order to grow as individual learners. Our teachers use data from multiple sources to diagnose student needs and use their professional skills and share knowledge of best practices to personalize learning for every student. Each day, teachers will work with students in small groups and individually to get more structured support for students.   Students will participate in math and reading daily in exciting courses designed to support growth in needed areas for accelerated learning and/or for high school credits.

    Frequently Asked Question

How do I log in and access my course?

Login using the Birdville Portal at https://launchpad.classlink.com/bisdtx/. Your username and password for the Birdville Portal will be the same as you used to log in to a desktop computer in a lab at your school. If you have never logged onto the Birdville Portal, you will be asked to set 3 security questions prior to gaining access. These security questions allow you to reset your password without going through the Technology Help Desk.

What if my login does not work for the Birdville Portal?

You will need to go to the library where staff will reset your password.  After your password has been reset, you will need to log on to a desktop computer in the library to change your password. A naming convention recommended for your password is:

FirstletterofhighschoolCAPITALIZEDhs8digitbday. For example, a student born on January 1, 2002, attending Richland High School would make their password: Rhs01012002

Will transportation be provided in the summer?

Yes, transportation will be provided from your student's home campus in grades K-12.  Pre-K students are not eligible for transportation.  Please contact your child's home campus to get transportation set up for your child.

Will meals be served?  What is the cost?  What if my child wants to bring his/her own lunch?  What if I want to drop off lunch for my student?

Breakfast and lunch will be served free of charge to all students. Children are free to bring lunch from home.  Parents/guardians may drop off a student's lunch in the office with their name on it.  The office will let the classroom teacher know so your student can come to get it prior to lunchtime.

Are visitors allowed at lunch during summer school?

Due to the fact that summer school is only a few weeks long, we will not be allowing visitors to lunch.

Do my students have to follow the dress code in the summer?

Yes, all dress code rules are enforced in the summer.  Please refer to the Summer School Handbook section of this website or to the district site for the BISD Dress Code.

What if my student needs to take medication at school?  Will there be a nurse on duty?

All medication should be taken in the nurse's office.  A signed consent form will need to be on file to take medication.  See the handbook for more information.   A nurse will be on duty at each campus to take care of student needs.  Medication Form English  Medication Form Spanish
