• Birdville ISD Illness Policy*:

    Students will stay home if they have:

    A fever of 100 degrees or greater

    Diarrhea or vomiting in the past 24 hours

    Red, runny eyes, yellow discharge, or wake up with eyes “glued shut”

    A rash of unknown origin

    Live lice

     

    Students can return to school when they:

    Have been free of fever (without the use of Tylenol or ibuprofen) for 24 hours

    Have not had diarrhea or vomiting in the past 24 hours

    Have no visible rash

    No evidence of live lice

     

    The nurse does not make any judgment about whether absences are excused. Attendance policies apply for all absences.

    • Any infection diagnosed by a physician (such as flu, strep throat, pink eye, staph, chicken pox, etc) should be reported to the nurse
    • Students should remain at home for the first 24 hours of antibiotic treatment
