Birdville ISD to Offer Limited Temporary Virtual Learning Academy: Applications open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14
With the ongoing concerns by families with children not eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination, Birdville ISD is creating a Temporary Virtual Learning Academy (TVLA) for Grades K-6. BISD enrolled students in grades K-6 may apply for one of the 50 slots per grade level districtwide (not per campus) to attend school via the District’s online learning platform beginning on Wednesday, August 18 through Friday, October 29. BISD enrolled students in Kindergarten through 6th grade for the 2021–22 school year may apply for one of the 350 slots (districtwide total, not per campus) available to attend school online in the District’s Temporary Virtual Learning Academy. Families must submit one application per child. It is anticipated that online enrolled students will return to in-person learning at their home campus beginning on Monday, November 1, 2021.
Applications for one of the 350 slots districtwide (not per campus) will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Extension of TVLA beyond Friday, October 29 will be considered based upon several factors which include, but are not limited to, the availability of a vaccination for students under the age of 12 and funding guidelines.
Families will receive an email notification on or before Aug. 16 tentatively confirming their student's acceptance into the TVLA program.
