Birdville ISD offers a comprehensive system of
"Child Find" in which all individuals birth through 21 who may or may not be in school and who fall within our jurisdiction, regardless of the severity of the disability, will be located, identified and evaluated. Efforts include contact with private, parochial and home schools (if applicable); and public awareness activities.
- For a child younger than 3 years with special needs, contact Early Childhood Intervention of Tarrant County at 1-888-754-0524 or contact Jamie Thomas, BISD Special Services Coordinator (817) 547-5737.
- For a child 3 years or older with special needs, contact the diagnostician or speech-language pathologist at your neighborhood school.
- For a school-age child with special needs who is not enrolled in school, contact your neighborhood school to enroll your child and meet with the CARE Team to discuss special education services.
- For a school-age child with a suspected disability, contact the CARE Team at your child's neighborhood school.
