The principal of West Birdville when it opened in 1950 was WA Porter.
The building was originally 23,285 square feet.
After 6 additions over the years, the total square footage is now 67,052 square feet on a total of 8.83 acres.
In 2014, Birdville Independent School District voters approved a $163.2 million bond package. Money was allocated for the construction of a new West Birdville campus which opened during the 2016-2017 school year.
On Thursday, March 26, BISD’s Board of Trustees unanimously voted to change the name of The Academy at West Birdville back to the original campus name of West Birdville Elementary School.
The New West Birdville Elementary Campus, funded by the 2016 Bond, opened in August, 2016.
