High School Band Competitive Marching Update
After meeting with our Birdville ISD high school band directors as well as district administration, and with the safety of our students as our greatest concern, we have made the difficult decision to not participate in competitive marching band activities this fall due to ongoing pandemic concerns.
Undertaking a competitive marching season involves significant amounts of time, planning, energy, and funding from the school district, booster clubs, and individual parent contributions. We take the investment of these funds very seriously and believe it is in the best interest of all stakeholders to use those resources to support a marching experience that would safely allow all students to participate.
While we are extremely disappointed that our outstanding bands will not compete this year, we have been working hard on plans to provide our students creative marching experiences that are attainable under the current health crisis.
Band practices will begin soon with robust guidelines in place for student safety. Band directors will be sharing specific details in the coming days. Birdville ISD Fine Arts will continue to closely monitor local, state, and national guidelines to help make appropriate adjustments throughout the fall. We are whole-heartedly dedicated to providing our talented student-musicians with meaningful outlets for expression and opportunities for camaraderie with friends and the band community.
Note: Details regarding athletic competitions will be posted online once additional information is made available by UIL and TEA.
