The Summer Bridge June 11-13

Dear Students and Parents of the Collegiate Academy,

It is with great joy that I welcome you to the beginning of our students’ college careers. Parents, from the moment they were selected in The Lottery, our staff began to see Your students as Our students, and the Signing Night Celebration was an auspicious beginning (look that one up, kids).

Students, the next stop on your journey to graduation from college will be The Summer Bridge. You must come to Haltom High School Tuesday, June 11 – Thursday, June 13 at 8:00am. This is a required event; those who do not attend The Bridge will, unfortunately, have to make their scholarship available to a grateful student on the waitlist. There will be no sessions on Friday, June 14th as originally planned.

Students may catch the bus to Haltom at the BISD middle school nearest to your home. I will contact you with the time for pick-up as soon as it is set by the transportation department. Alternatively, parents may bring their students to Haltom High and drop them off at 7:50 if they choose to do so. On Tuesday and Wednesday students will board the busses after Bridge sessions end at 2:00pm to return to the same middle school.

On Thursday, June 13th, students will be picked up just as they were the first two days. After lunch, the CAB will provide transportation from Haltom High School to Tarrant County College Northeast Campus. Students will tour the campus, preview the facilities, and receive their college IDs. We invite parents and their families to join us on campus at 4:00pm for the Family Bridge Picnic. We will provide food and beverages; you just come and enjoy the moment. Parents may take their students home directly from the picnic. If you and your family are not able to attend, the busses will leave to take your students back to their middle schools at 5:00 – 5:15pm.

Our faculty appreciates the opportunity given to us by the parents of the inaugural class of the Collegiate Academy to know, love, and educate your children. We believe this is the start of something special. We look forward to the road ahead – may it be filled with the joy, wonder, and transformation that accompany the progress from childhood to adulthood. Thank you for allowing us to guide your students on this epic journey.

Sincerely,

Michael Gerard and the staff of The Collegiate Academy of Birdville
