RICHLAND ELEMENTARY
*Due to the evolving situation with COVID-19, and the regularly changing guidance from state education and health officials, the Richland Elementary Reopening Plan will be reviewed and updated as needed to reflect new requirements from the CDC; federal, state, or county orders; BISD or the Texas Education Agency.
General Safety Expectations
BISD requires that masks be worn by all staff and students while on District property, including buses. This includes participation in recess, PE, and music activities. Classrooms are equipped with hand sanitizer, and there are close to 50 hand sanitizing stations around the school. Disinfecting wipes are provided to teachers for cleaning throughout the day. Additional cleaning and sterilization practices have been added to the daily schedule. We are requesting that all students bring a reusable water bottle to school. We have two water bottle filling stations with filtered water.
Arrival
Following BISD’s guidelines, parents will not be able to walk their child(ren) to class on the first day or at all for the foreseeable future. We will follow our arrival and dismissal procedures attached to this packet. Many of these procedures are new, so please make sure to read them all thoroughly. Thank you for your understanding in this matter!
Visitors
Birdville ISD facilities will be closed to outside visitors, except by appointment. Parents may schedule conferences with teachers or an administrator virtually. Approved outside visitors and essential school volunteers will be required to wear a mask before entering any BISD facility. Per the Texas Education Agency Public Health Planning Guidance dated July 17, 2020, before visitors/volunteers are allowed on campuses, school office personnel will pre-screen each visitor/volunteer using the doorbell intercom to determine if they have COVID-19 symptoms or are lab-confirmed with COVID-19, and, if so, they must remain off campus until they meet the criteria for entry. Additionally, campuses will not be able to host events such as open houses, carnivals, dances, class parties, or any event that brings additional people onto campus.
Lunch
Students will maintain social distancing guidelines while eating lunch. The lunch schedule and seating plan will be revisited frequently, as families choose online or F2F learning. Parents are welcome to bring lunches up for drop off, but we ask that you do so on a limited basis. Visitors will not be allowed to eat lunch with students at this time.
Recess
Outdoor spaces will be used, but playgrounds will be closed until further notice. Children will be allowed to play on the blacktop and field. Students will be monitored closely by school staff.
Dismissal
Each grade level will have a designated exit area for dismissal that will be communicated to parents. Older siblings will wait with younger siblings to be dismissed. Dismissal cards will be utilized, and staff members will call students to come out to cars. Only parents of PreK and ECSE students will be allowed to pick up their students in person. During all transition/dismissal procedures, masks, and social distancing guidelines apply.
Learning Options
Face to Face: Students will work on grade-level content presented by the teacher(s) in class. Assignments will be submitted as instructed by the classroom teacher for the day.
Online: Students will access grade-level content via the Teacher’s Learning Platform in Canvas. The material and lessons will be presented by the teacher through some real-time zoom lessons and through video-recorded lessons. Assignments will be submitted through Canvas.
