Recognitions
The Birdville ISD Board of Trustees was recognized for its leadership and commitment to the students of the District.
Bobby Amador was recognized for his longtime volunteer service to the high school marching bands as a key driver of the 18-wheeler that hauls the band’s equipment.
BISD’s Finance Department, led by Dr. Missy Glenn, was recognized for receiving the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) Pathway to Meritorious Budget Award.

Approved revisions to Board Policy FNCE (LOCAL) Student Conduct: Personal Telecommunications/Electronic Devices. This change requires all listen-in technology to be disabled while the device is on a campus and prohibits the transmission of audio and video images of other students.
Approved the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Proposed Policy Update 122. Update 122 reflects changes in the law based upon recent administrative law and court decisions. Revisions were made to policies:

BISD’s Child Nutrition Department and Director Michelle Risenhoover were recognized for being awarded the USDA 2023 Gold Level-Turnip the Beet Award. Approved the Memorandum of Understandings (MOU) with Tarleton State University Distinguished High School Partnership Program. This MOU guarantees automatic acceptance for BISD students graduating within the top 50 percent of their respective classes.

Recognitions

The American Heart Association was recognized for their partnership with Spicer Elementary. The Association awarded a class set of CPR mannequins to allow the school to teach fourth grade students hands-on CPR and fifth grade students CPR with no breaths.

Approved the 2024–25 ad valorem tax rate of $1.1983 per $100 valuation. The maintenance and operations (M&O) portion of the tax rate is $0.7869 per $100 valuation. The portion to pay the debt service (I&S) is $0.4114. The M&O and I&S rates are decreasing from the 2023-24 tax year.
Adopted a resolution calling for prepayment of a portion of the Birdville ISD Unlimited Tax School Building Bonds, Series 2015-A. This prepayment will save taxpayers more than $3.745 million in interest payments. Since 2014, the Board has approved prepayments of $28.98 million of bond principal saving taxpayers more than $20.2 million in interest payments.

Recognitions

Recognized City Point United Methodist Church for their support of Binion Elementary. The church provides volunteers to mentor with Academy 4, sponsors a Reading Club for kindergarteners, and organized a Back-to-School Bash that provides students and parents with essential items like backpacks, clothes, and school supplies, along with classroom supplies for teachers.

Recognized Creekstone Church for their support of Holiday Heights Elementary and Richland High School. The church provides Holiday Heights staff with supplies and gift cards, ensuring they have the resources they need. In addition, they provide meals for the Richland High School boys basketball team.

Recognized the Richland High School marching band for advancing to the 2024 UIL State Marching Contest. Richland competed in the 5A competition and placed 15th out of more than 38 bands at the State UIL competition in San Antonio. The head band director is Mike Pickrell.

Sofia Phillips, Birdville High freshman, was recognized for placing fourth at the 2024 UIL 5A State Cross Country competition.

Recognized BISD’s finance department for receiving the 2024-25 Association of School Business Officials International Meritorious Budget Award. This award reflects BISD’s commitment to sound fiscal management and budgetary policies.
