BISD Superintendent Dr. Gayle Stinson was recognized for receiving the 2023 Margret Montgomery Leadership Award at The Council of Women School Executives (TCWSE) annual conference in January.

Partners in Education Recognitions
College Hills Church of Christ was recognized as a business partner with Holiday Heights Elementary. The church provides snacks for students, volunteers at various events, donates clothes for students in need, and supports and encourages the staff.

Richland High School’s boys basketball team and Coach Danny Henderson were recognized for the team winning first place in District 7-5A.
Birdville High School’s wrestlers were recognized for their accomplishments at the district, region and state levels.
- Valeria Hernandez Acevedo: District Runner-Up, the first BHS girl to win a 2-5A Regional Championship, and UIL 5A State Qualifier;

Students from the Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning’s (BCTAL) Law, Public Safety, Correction, and Security program were recognized for winning various competitions at the Texas Public Safety Association State Conference. Winners were:

- Jayden Finley, Richland High, won third place at state in the 100m dash.
- Michael Turner, Jean Ilunga, Dominique Johnson and Jayden Finley, Richland High, won second place at Regionals in the 4x100 relay. Cade Coulson and Cam’Ron Johnson were alternates on the team.
- Dominique Johnson, Richland High, won second place at regionals in the long jump.
- Jeremiah Sanders, Haltom High, qualified for state in the long jump and high jump.
Gymnastics
- Jacob Dickman, Richland High, was a Regional Qualifier by placing sixth on the floor and 11th on the vault. Jacob made the national team.
- Rylan Richards, Birdville High, was a state winner by placing fourth on rings, 10th on parallel bars, and 11th in the all-around. As a Regional Qualifier, he placed first on floor, third on pommel horse, eighth on rings, seventh on parallel bars, and fifth all-around.

Qualified half-time employees will receive $375.

Eight BISD Special Olympians and two Unified Partner Olympians were recognized for their efforts at the state Special Olympics Track Meet in San Antonio. They were: Nick Hidrogo, Ivan Dunlap, Shakeb Syed, Delaney Roberts, Brittany Gallegos, Alan Marquez, Andy Marquez, and Daniko Flores.

Students from Birdville High School’s Educators Rising Chapter were recognized for winning various competitions at the national conference in Orlando. Winners were:
- Megan McMahon and Ryan King placed second in the nation with their Children’s Literature K–3 entry. Together, McMahon (the author) and King (the illustrator) presented their published book.
- Jaylee Martinson placed ninth in the nation in the Educators Rising Moment competition in which she delivered a presentation of her journey toward becoming an educator.
