The UIL released its biennial realignment for football, basketball and volleyball for 2026-2028 on Monday, February 2. This realignment determines what districts Birdville, Richland and Haltom High Schools will compete in, and what schools Birdville ISD will compete against.

Starting later this fall, Birdville and Richland will compete in District 6-5A Division I for football. In addition to Birdville and Richland, District 6-5A Division I also includes Highland Park, Garland Naaman Forest, and Carrollton Creekview, Smith and Turner High Schools.

Haltom will compete in District 8-6A for football and basketball beginning Fall 2026, competing against Irving, Irving MacArthur, Irving Nimitz, South Grand Prairie, Grand Prairie, Euless Trinity and L.D. Bell High Schools. Haltom’s district for volleyball is the same as football and basketball.

For basketball, Richland and Birdville will compete in District 12-5A, which includes Highland Park, Carrollton Creekview, Smith and Turner, as well as Colleyville Heritage and Grapevine High Schools. Richland and Birdville’s district for volleyball is the same as basketball.

Alignments for all other events will be released on the UIL website later in the spring of 2026.
