The Haltom High School Symphonic Winds earned a seventh-place finish in the prestigious Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Class 6A Honor Band competition, placing the ensemble among the top concert bands in the state of Texas.

The TMEA Honor Band competition is one of the highest honors a Texas concert band can achieve. Bands advance through multiple rounds of blind adjudication, with recordings evaluated by expert judges from across the country. Reaching the state finals and finishing in the top 10 is a testament to exceptional musicianship, consistency and artistic excellence.

The Symphonic Winds' Honor Band performance included *The Pride of the Wolverines* by John Philip Sousa, *Buckaroo Holiday* by Aaron Copland, and *The Fountains of Rome* by Ottorino Respighi. 

"The Haltom Band's tradition of excellence is built on years of dedication, exceptional teaching and an unwavering commitment to musical artistry," said Mark McGahey, Director of Fine Arts. "Finishing seventh in the state through the highly competitive TMEA Honor Band process places the Haltom Symphonic Winds among the very best 6A concert bands in Texas. We are incredibly proud of how they continue to represent Birdville ISD with distinction."
