Birdville ISD Trustees appointed Tito Rodriguez to fill the unexpired term of Place 4 Trustee Matthew Womble at a special meeting on Monday, August 10. Womble recently resigned as a Trustee due to work obligations.

A longtime public servant and advocate for the Birdville ISD community, Rodriguez served on the North Richland Hills City Council from 2011-2025. He has also been actively involved with numerous community organizations, including the Northeast Richland Lions Club, Community Enrichment Center (CEC), North Tarrant Chamber of Commerce, and the Birdville Rotary Club.

Rodriguez is also an active volunteer with BISD’s Clothes Connection, the BISD Refresh back-to-school event, and the BISD Education Partners for Impact Council (EPIC), while also serving as a student mentor and volunteer bilingual reader. From 2015 to 2017, Rodriguez served as Executive Director of the Birdville Education Foundation.

Rodriguez is a three-time recipient of the North Tarrant Chamber of Commerce Hometown Hero award and was honored in 2018, 2021 and 2024. The award recognizes volunteers, community leaders, and service members who give their time and resources to support area non-profit organizations and the community. 

“Mr. Rodriguez brings a wealth of public service experience and a genuine commitment to the students, families and staff of Birdville ISD,” said Brenda Sanders-Wise, Board of Trustees President. “His years of service to our community will be a tremendous asset to the Board. We are excited to welcome Mr. Rodriguez and look forward to the perspective and leadership he will bring to Birdville ISD.”

In addition to his public service, Rodriguez spent 22 years working for the State of Texas Office of the Attorney General as a special investigator for the Child Support Enforcement Division. Prior to that, he was a legislative aide to State Rep. Roman Martinez and also worked for the State of Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. 

Rodriguez received his bachelor’s degree in business administration/financial services from Columbia College. All of Rodriguez’s children and grandchildren are graduates of Birdville ISD, and they continue to actively serve the community. 

Rodriguez’s appointed term expires in May 2027.
