Birdville ISD's heart is heavy as we mourn the passing of former U.S. Representative Kay Granger, whose story began right here in BISD. Before a lifetime of elected public service that included serving as Fort Worth's first female mayor and representing North Texas in Congress from 1997 to 2025, Mrs. Granger was a BISD teacher.  

Her family's impact on BISD runs even deeper. Mullendore Elementary proudly bears the name of her mother, Alliene Mullendore, who was a beloved educator, assistant principal, principal and the first woman elected to the Birdville ISD Board of Trustees.

Mrs. Granger devoted her life to serving others, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and all who knew her. Her legacy of service and commitment to education will continue to inspire generations of BISD students, staff and families.
