Birdville ISD Names Victoria Small Next Director of Health Services

Birdville ISD has selected Victoria Small as the next Director of Health Services. Small will replace Michelle Provence, who is retiring at the end of the school year.

Small has most recently served as BISD’s resource nurse since 2022 and has nearly a decade of experience in nursing, both in BISD and in the private sector at Medical City North Hills.

“I am honored to be chosen to serve the students and staff in Birdville ISD as the Director of Health Services,” Small said. “I am excited to continue working alongside our campuses and families to strengthen systems that keep students healthy, in school and learning every day. I believe in BISD’s commitment to excellence and am eager to contribute in this new role.”

As the district’s resource nurse, Small has contributed to the implementation and evaluation of campus health procedures and protocols. She has also supported district health services by assisting campus nurses with clinical guidance.

Prior to serving as BISD’s resource nurse, Small was the campus nurse at Stowe Elementary from 2020 to 2022. She has been a registered nurse (RN) since 2017.

Small began her career as a nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at Medical City North Hills – a role she held from 2017 to 2019. She later served as a Unit Supervisor in the Progressive Care Unit from 2019 to 2020 before joining BISD.

During her time at Medical City, Small managed a 27-bed unit, coordinated a nursing staff and managed shift staffing assignments. She also mentored new nurses, supporting staff development and clinical competency.

Small earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Nursing Leadership and Management.

Small will assume her new role effective July 1.
