Birdville ISD Board Approves Appointment of Megan Overman as Chief Communications Officer
The Birdville ISD Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of Megan Overman as the district’s new Chief Communications Officer. Overman, a respected leader in school communications with 25 years of experience in North Texas, will assume the position later this summer. She is replacing Mark Thomas, who will serve as Special Advisor to the Superintendent until he retires in December 2025 after more than three decades of service to the Birdville community.
Overman began her public school communications career in Birdville ISD in 2000 as the district’s communications specialist. She went on to serve in leadership roles in Keller, Grapevine-Colleyville, and Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISDs, where she currently leads the Communications and Marketing Department. Her work has included strategic planning, crisis communications, bond election messaging, branding initiatives, and stakeholder engagement. She also serves as a trusted advisor to district leadership and school boards.
In addition to her professional experience, Overman is an active leader in the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA), where she served as President for 2023–24 and has been a member of the Executive Board since 2018. She is also a frequent presenter at state and national conferences and serves on the board of the Certified Public Communicator program at Texas Christian University.
“We are excited to welcome Megan back to Birdville ISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Gayle Stinson. “Her knowledge of our community and deep experience in public school communications make her an excellent choice to lead our communications efforts moving forward.”
Overman holds Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) and is a Certified Public Communicator (CPC). She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in economics from Oklahoma State University.
