Birdville ISD Announces Principal for Watauga Middle School

Birdville ISD is pleased to announce the appointment of James Hollis as principal at Watauga Middle School. Hollis stepped in as interim principal in early June while Shannon Houston-Shedd was away, and he now takes over officially upon her retirement announcement.

Hollis has served as a teacher and campus leader in Birdville ISD during his 14-year career, most recently as assistant principal at Richland High School. Prior to his three years at RHS, Hollis was an assistant principal at North Richland Middle School and in Keller ISD. He also taught and coached at North Ridge and North Richland middle schools.

“James Hollis has a history of success in the classroom and in campus leadership, and we are excited to have him continuing the legacy of leadership at Watauga Middle School,” said Dr. Gayle Stinson, Superintendent. “He is already preparing to welcome students and staff for an exciting school year and we look forward to supporting him and the entire WMS community to success.”

Hollis earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas a master’s degree from Lamar University. He will immediately transition to his new role in preparation for the coming school year.
