Birdville ISD Announces Principal for Richland Middle School

Birdville ISD is pleased to announce the appointment of John Deleon as principal at Richland Middle School. Deleon joins RMS from its feeder high school, Birdville High, where he has served the past two years as Assistant Principal. Deleon moves into the RMS Principal role following Mr. Billy Neal, who has been named Principal at West Birdville Elementary.

At BHS, one of Deleon’s primary roles has been to oversee the freshman class and assist families in transitioning to the high school environment. He also focuses on campus safety and behavior, supports instructional strategies, and oversees operational logistics including buses and transportation. Prior to BHS, Deleon served from 2011-2019 at Haltom High School first as an educational assistant then as a biology teacher, and then transferred to Haltom Middle School to serve as Assistant Principal until 2023 when he moved to Birdville High.

“We are excited to have John Deleon continuing the strong leadership we have had at Richland Middle School,” said Dr. Gayle Stinson, Superintendent. “Mr. Deleon is known for his heart for students, organizational and operational excellence, and commitment to instructional excellence. We are excited about the positive impact he will have in the RMS community.”

Deleon earned his Master’s in Educational Administrative Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington and his undergraduate degree, a double major in Psychology and Anthropology, from Southwest Texas State University.

Deleon will transition to his new role at Richland Middle on July 14.
