Frequently Asked Questions
How do I log in and access my course?
Log in using the Birdville Portal at https://launchpad.classlink.com/bisdtx/. Your username and password for the Birdville Portal will be the same as those you used to log in to a desktop computer in a lab at your school. If you have never logged onto the Birdville Portal, you will be asked to set 3 security questions before gaining access. These security questions allow you to reset your password without going through the Technology Help Desk.
When is the computer lab open for summer school?
All high school virtual labs are open from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Monday-Thursday. The high school math lab is open until 12:00 PM. Lab hours are available for English, science, social studies, and math. If you are taking an elective course, you should contact your instructor to arrange a tutorial.
Are students required to attend lab hours during summer school?
Not every day! Students must come to campus to take unit tests and final exams with a teacher. Lab hours are also available for students who need help with the content as well. Labs are open Monday–Thursday for ELA, science, social studies, and electives.
What is the difference between the A and B in Credit Recovery and Accelerated courses?
The A in the course title indicates the course is for credit for the 1st semester (fall semester). The B in the course title indicates the course is for credit for the 2nd semester (spring semester). It is important to ensure that students are enrolled in the semester(s) for which they need credit.
How do students take their required final tests?
Students are required to take all unit tests and final exams in a monitored lab. When a student needs to take a test, they will use the lab available for their content area, open Monday-Thursday from 8:00 AM -12:00 PM, to do so.
What is the difference between Credit Recovery and Acceleration for Original Credit?
Students may be signed up for any combination of these 3 courses (credit recovery, EOC (End-of-Course) remediation, or acceleration for original credit). However, they all serve different purposes. A credit recovery course is taken by students who failed a course in the previous year. However, these courses are not NCAA-approved. Credit Recovery students have already taken the course but did not receive credit for it due to a failing grade or incomplete hours. Credit Recovery courses are marked with the designation CR. An accelerated course is taken by students to earn credit for the first time, and it can also be taken by those who failed a course and want to earn an NCAA-approved credit for that class. Students taking an Accelerated course may try to graduate early or take courses so they have room during the year for electives or more challenging courses. Accelerated courses are marked with the designation ACC.
What supplies do my students need to bring to summer school?
All high school and middle school students must bring their Chromebooks to school every day. Middle school and high school students must wear their school ID each day. All other supplies will be available at school for students.
How do I pay for my child's online course(s)?
Payments can be made online. > Pay online via RevTrak

All hours missed during summer school will need to be completed during the regular school year.

Cell Phone Policy
All elementary and middle school students must have their cell phones shut off and put away in their backpacks during the school day. Students are not allowed to be on their cell phones while summer school is in session. If students need to use a phone, they will be allowed to use a phone on their summer school campus.
Computer Lab
Computer labs are available for High School Students to complete virtual assignments and to take unit tests and final exams. All high school virtual labs are open from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Monday-Thursday. The high school math lab is open until 12:00 PM. Discipline/Code of Conduct
A Copy of the Birdville ISD “Student Code of Conduct”, can be found on the BISD website under the Family/Community tab, then scroll down to the left under Family Recourse. You may also access it directly at https://www.birdvilleschools.net/studenthandbooks. While each section of the code is not explicitly included in the Summer School Handbook, all policies and procedures contained within the BISD “Student Code of Conduct,” are to be followed. Every student is guaranteed due process. Students who have severe discipline behaviors may be removed from summer programming. Any student that violates a policy that would warrant DAEP placement, will attend DAEP at the beginning of the 2025-26 school year. Student Code of Conduct must be followed during Summer School Sessions. Parents and students signed the “Student Code of Conduct” acknowledgment when registering online at the beginning of the year which still applies to students attending summer programming.
Dress Code
The dress code for summer school will follow the BISD Dress Code that is outlined in the Student Code of Conduct. All parents receive a copy of the Dress Code annually and are expected to be familiar with these restrictions. This dress code guides common situations but cannot cover every style of dress or grooming or every situation that may arise.
Students Must Wear:
- Clothing that is modest or respectable and appropriate for all scheduled classroom activities including physical education, science labs, CTE courses, and other activities where unique hazards exist.
- Clothing that covers undergarments, undergarment area, and midriff (stomach area).
- Appropriate footwear.
- Shirts and dresses must have fabric in the front, back, and sides.
Students May Not Wear:
- Strapless, backless, halter, bare-midriff, or spaghetti strap shirts, blouses, or dresses.
- Pajamas, slippers, or house shoes. (unless designated by campus)
- No hats or head coverings (i.e., bandanas and hoodies) of any kind are to be worn inside the building unless approved by the school principal for a special occasion or worn for religious reasons. Unless there is a documented medical justification, no sunglasses are to be worn in the building.
- Images or language depicting hate speech, profanity, pornography, drugs or alcohol (or any illegal item or activity) or that creates a hostile or intimidating environment based on any protected class.
- Any clothing that reveals visible undergarments or Swimsuits
- For safety reasons, the wearing of heavy chains, accessories or spiked jewelry, or “grills” is prohibited. Pierced body ornaments may be worn in the ears and a single facial stud may be worn. “Gauges” in elementary school are prohibited. Anything that could be considered dangerous or could be used as a weapon is prohibited.
- Form-fitting or skin-tight shorts of Lycra, spandex, or any other similar material.
- Due to safety concerns during recess and P.E.; students are not allowed to wear flip-flops, crocs, Heelys (or other wheeled shoes), or slides.
- No sagging. Inappropriate oversized clothing shall not be worn to any BISD function. Specifically, “bagging or sagging” pants or shorts are prohibited. All pants and shorts are to be worn at the waist.
The campus principal, assistant principals, and staff members have the authority to enforce the District Dress Code. Regulations about grooming and dress for each campus are under the direction of the principal. Students shall be allowed to correct a violation of the Dress Code while at school, if possible. If the student refuses to correct the dress code violation, they will be subject to discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct.
Health and Safety Environment
The health and safety of the students in BISD are very important. The BISD Summer School Program will commit to keeping our students safe by practicing school drills and putting other safety precautions into place. We will use the same Standard Response Protocols that are utilized during the regular school year. Each campus will complete the following two drills sometime early in the summer schedule:
- Lockdown Drill
- Evacuation (Fire Drill)
Security Guards and an SRO will be provided at the High School Summer School locations for added security.
All middle and high school students will be required to wear their student ID badges at all times while on campus. It is the responsibility of the student to have their student ID badge each day. All students must have their student ID badges to take an EOC exam.
Meals
Breakfast and lunch will be available to all students who are attending summer school for free. The school cafeteria staff will begin serving breakfast thirty minutes before the first bell, and the school will begin serving at 7:30 am. Students should report to the cafeteria upon arrival at school to eat breakfast. Lunch will be served during the summer school day.
Due to safety concerns and the length of summer school, visitors will not be allowed to eat with students during summer school. Also, schools will not accept lunches from outside services to be delivered to summer schools such as UberEATS, DoorDash, or any other outside vendor.
Medications
A nurse will be available to all students in the event of illness or emergency. All medication should be given outside of school hours, if possible. All medication should be given outside of school hours, if possible. Scholarship applications will be reviewed and approved by the members of the appropriate program. Home campuses will inform students of the scholarships that they receive. There are various opportunities for students to apply for and receive scholarships for various summer programs. Other scholarship resources are listed below:
- Gill Scholarship- Talk to your high school counselor about this during registration to see if you qualify. The deadline to apply for this financial aid is March 27, 2026, at noon.
STAAR/EOC Scores
Students and families have access to student STAAR/EOC Scores and resources through the Family Portal beginning in late June for this year's Spring STAAR/EOC administration. These results may be found under the tab “District Links”. In the dropdown menu, look for TEA Assessments. You may also find your child’s assessment results on the Texas Education Agency (TEA) Website: https://www.texasassessment.gov/. You will need your child’s Social Security number and birthdate to access scores on this site. For each assessment, parents will be able to see the specific parts of the curriculum or elements of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) in which their student struggled.
Technology Policy
Birdville ISD has implemented a 1:1 Technology initiative for our students, providing the resources they need to prepare for future success. The district offers Chromebooks as instructional resources to ensure that students have access to digital tools, information, and the latest innovative learning solutions. To qualify for a device, the student must be actively enrolled with Birdville ISD and limit use to educational purposes. Students will have access to the student portal on the BISD website. If your secondary student has an issue with internet access at home, please contact your child’s school for possible solutions.
How do I log in to my computer?
Log in using the Birdville Portal at mybirdvilleschools.net. Your username and password for the Birdville Portal will be the same as those you use to log in to a desktop computer in a lab at your school. If you have never logged onto the Birdville Portal, you will be asked to set 3 security questions before gaining access. These security questions allow you to reset your password without going through the Technology Help Desk.
The device is intended for educational purposes and activities. All students should appropriately use the device and treat the equipment with respect. If the device is treated with care, there is a lower chance of it being damaged. The first time a device is damaged, there will be a no-cost repair or replacement. After the initial no-cost repair or replacement, there will be a $25 fee for each subsequent incident. Alternate pricing will be applied for socioeconomic household needs. The district uses GoGuardian for safety purposes. Students who violate the acceptable use policy egregiously/continually will be removed from summer programming.
Responsibility Use Guidelines for Technology

Any student who registers for transportation after summer programming begins will need to wait until transportation reaches out to the family before having their student ride the bus. It can take up to three days to arrange transportation. Families should contact the school if any changes are made to their child’s transportation.

Transportation Information for Summer School
Transportation Information
Parents may request transportation to summer school, but this request must be approved by the Birdville Transportation Department as meeting certain criteria for bussing. Your child will only qualify for transportation if you live over 2 miles from the summer school campus or if there is a special circumstance. Students do not qualify for transportation if they already attend the summer school's host campus and live within 2 miles of that campus. Pre-K students are not eligible for transportation. Transportation will be provided from major apartment complexes. You may request transportation during the summer school registration process in your child's Focus Portal.
Pick-up and drop-off locations are determined after all summer school registration is completed and the Transportation Department determines the best locations. Students will be notified in Focus before the start of summer school, where they will be picked up and dropped off near their location.
Please call your student's school to set up transportation, and do not contact the transportation department directly. If a parent requests transportation during registration, your child should receive information via Focus, email, or a letter from the summer school campus about the bus number, times, and locations. Any student who registers for transportation after summer programming begins will need to wait until transportation reaches out to the family before having their student ride the bus. It can take up to three days to arrange transportation.
Buses do not make neighborhood stops except in special circumstances, such as if a school is being rebuilt or for special education. Please note that any new bus assignments or changes to your child's enrollment can affect bus assignments. In these instances, please be prepared to transport your child during their first three (3) days of school.
Please remember that your child must be at the bus stop at least 7–10 minutes before pickup. All parents/guardians with students in kindergarten/1st grade must have a signed release form on file in the Transportation Department. This form can be found at your home campus. All parents/guardians with students in kindergarten must meet their child at the bus stop. These students will not be permitted to exit the bus without a parent/guardian present at arrival unless previously noted in writing to the Transportation Department.
If you have transportation changes for your student during summer school, please call the summer school's main office. This ensures that we provide students with the correct information about how they will be picked up from school. Families should contact the school if any changes are made to their child’s transportation.
