A little about me:
What seems like a lifetime ago, I was a Richland Rebel; however, today I am ALL BUFF! I have been a proud member of Buff Nation for 12 years! Everyday, I have the privilege of working with the best kids in the B.I.S.D.. My past and present students, as well as my HHS family, bring me blessings in abundance. I am truly committed to creating the best learning environment possible so that every student who walks through my door has every opportunity to recognize and meet his or her true potential.
I come to teaching with first-hand experience as a struggling student; many times learning was a real challenge for me; however, with the help of quality educators and quality instruction in the classroom, I went on to graduate with honors in the top 10% of my class at UT Arlington. I firmly believe in the power of perseverance and the power of education. Being an educator is a great privilege and a tremendous responsibility that I never take for granted.
When I am not in the classroom or preparing for the classroom, I love to spend time relaxing with friends and family. My favorite seasons are spring and summer because I love to be outdoors in the warm weather. The ideal weekend for me would be spent among friends and family and involve any outdoor body of water: swimming pool, lake, ocean, river, you name it - I'll swim in it. The only thing that could make a day near the water better, would be to top it off enjoying some live music; I will never tire of enjoying live music. I am passionate about music, listening to it - not making it. My musical taste is very eclectic, and a quick view of my iTunes library will confirm that I have an appreciation for everything from indie rock to classical piano and 90's alternative to modern film scores. It's always an interesting moment when a student realizes that I'm a real person who "likes cool music and movies and stuff."
But let's be honest, teachers are exhausted after school, and on any given day, I love to unwind by grabbing my earbuds and my dogs, "Harper Lee" and "Tille Mae," and going for a long walk. Anyone who knows me, knows I have heart for animals. "Harper Lee" has two little sisters, a 10
year old calico cat named "Scout" and a 4 year old creamy colored kitty named "Bitsy." "Harper Lee" and "Scout" are named after my favorite literary character, Scout Finch, and the author of To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee.
