Join millions around the globe as the Birdville community celebrates the power of reading aloud with the thirteenth annual World Read Aloud Day on Wednesday, February 2, 2022!
What is World Read Aloud Day?
For 12 years, World Read Aloud Day (WRAD), hosted by LitWorld, has called attention to the importance of sharing stories by challenging participants to grab a book, find an audience, and read aloud or find an audience and tell a story.
The global effort is now celebrated in over 173 countries and counting. World Read Aloud Day is a worldwide movement of millions of readers, writers, and listeners from communities all across the world coming together to honor the joy and power of reading and sharing stories to continue the expansion of the definition and scope of global literacy.
What will World Read Aloud Day look like in Birdville?
📖Teachers and librarians will access live or virtual recorded read-alouds on Wednesday, February 2 from the BISD WRAD webpage
📖Teachers, librarians, and campus administrators will read and share stories with their students - face-to-face and via Zoom
📖Teachers can use Zoom to partner with other teachers across campuses to read aloud to one another's students
📖Campuses may have visitor readers - adhering to any current BISD COVID protocols
📖Teachers and Librarians can access resources (printables, art projects, posters, activities, and more) and the 2022 Official World Read Aloud Guide from the Resources link on the left Navigation Menu
