Dear Haltom High families, 

We are proud of the staff and students at Haltom High School who understand the important role our culture of safety and security plays in helping maintain a safe campus. Because we all take this seriously, Haltom is a safe place to learn. 

Today, students reported to a teacher that another student brought a weapon on campus. We immediately checked the student in question and did, in fact, locate a fake gun with an empty magazine that might hold BBs. (No bullets were found.) The SRO took possession of the fake gun and secured it. At no time were students or staff in any danger.  

The thought of anything harmful on our campus is disturbing. You are being notified about this in order to provide accurate information and to prevent misinformation from being circulated.  

BISD has established all campuses as “Drug Free and Gun Free” zones. The District looks upon these situations very seriously and has taken the strongest action possible allowed by law. The safety of students and staff is my utmost priority, and we wish to reassure you that Haltom High School remains a safe and nurturing environment. Please continue to encourage your student to tell a teacher or an administrator if he/she sees or hears something that is not right. Estimadas familias de Haltom High, 

Estamos orgullosos del personal y los estudiantes de Haltom High School que entienden el importante papel de nuestra cultura de la protección y la seguridad juega en ayudar a mantener un plantel seguro. Porque todos tomamos esto en serio, Haltom es un lugar seguro para aprender. 

Hoy, unos alumnos informaron a un maestro de que otro alumno había traído un arma al plantel. Inmediatamente revisamos al alumno en cuestión y, efectivamente, localizamos una pistola falsa con un cargador vacío que podría contener balines. (No se encontraron balas.) El oficial de seguridad tomó posesión de la pistola falsa y la aseguró. Los alumnos y el personal no corrieron peligro en ningún momento. 

La idea de cualquier cosa dañina en nuestro plantel es inquietante. Se le notifica para proporcionarle información precisa y evitar que circule información errónea. 

BISD ha establecido todos los planteles como zonas "Libres de Drogas y Armas". El Distrito considera estas situaciones muy seriamente y ha tomado la acción más fuerte posible permitida por la ley. La seguridad de los estudiantes y el personal es mi máxima prioridad, y queremos asegurarles que Haltom High School sigue siendo un ambiente seguro y enriquecedor. Por favor, siga animando a su estudiante a decirle a un maestro o un administrador si él / ella ve o escucha algo que no está bien.
