New for the 2025-26 School Year
In summer 2025, the 89th Texas State Legislature passed House Bill 1481 that limits student use of personal communication devices on school property during the school day. The majority of Birdville ISD students and families are already familiar with this process as it relates to cell phones – all elementary and middle schools already operate without personal cell phones during the school day. House Bill 1481 expands the definition of personal communication device and now applies to all grade levels.
The intent behind House Bill 1481 is to limit distractions in the classroom and across campus so students can stay focused on learning. As a public school district, Birdville ISD is required to follow this law, and we ask for your support in helping us enforce it consistently. We also want families to know that we are working to implement this law with common sense and care.
