Steering Committee
The Technology Steering Committee
The BISD Technology Steering Committee is a collaborative team made up of many internal and external stakeholders who help evolve the common local vision for Technology in Birdville ISD and continuous planning for bringing that vision to life. This group is comprised of teachers, administrators, support staff, students, parents, community leaders, and Technology Department staff. The committee's focus and primary objectives are to enhance student learning with the intentional utilization of technology for instruction, productivity, and security. The Tech Steering Committee has input on the direction of technology in the District, reviews the current state of technology, and provides feedback regarding current and future initiatives. This committee will develop and maintain a long-range technology plan for our District.
The committee is charged with developing a process to collect and analyze community data to identify what skills Birdville ISD students need to thrive as a result of their time in Birdville ISD classes. Based on the community’s hopes for students, the committee will develop an ideal learner experience as represented in the Birdville ISD Learning Platform and Portrait of a Graduate.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
Birdville ISD recognizes that allowing students to bring personally-owned devices has the potential to enhance the educational experience for its learner. Please be aware that there may be some challenges with any personal device connecting to our secured network.
Campus Principals will ultimately determine whether or not students will be allowed to bring personally owned devices to their school. The Responsible Use Agreement serves to provide important information & parameters for this option.
Please review the following for more information regarding the BISD Content Filter & Responsible Use Agreement for the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) initiative in our district:
iBoss Filter
Birdville ISD provides filtered Internet access via iBoss, our content filter. Birdville monitors user activity on the District’s network, including sites visited, content viewed and communications sent and received.
The District may examine a student’s personal device and search its contents if there is a reason to believe that school policies, regulations, or guidelines regarding access to the network or use of the device have been violated per the Student Code of Conduct.
Damaged Devices
What happens if a device is damaged?
If a device requires a repair or is inoperable, it is our goal to get a functioning replacement in the hands of a student as quickly as possible. District campuses will individually assess the cause of the damage and report their findings to the Technology Department in the form of a ticket. The campus will be supplied with replacement units and determine if a student is eligible for an immediate swap.

Birdville's Optional Student Device Protection Plan
In Birdville ISD, we believe in providing students the opportunity to learn anytime, anywhere, and at any pace while developing future-ready skills. BISD students in grades 6th through 12th will be assigned a district-owned Chromebook to use at home and school. For a device to be issued to a student, the district's Birdville ISD Responsible Use Guidelines and Secondary Parent and Student Equipment Use Agreement must be agreed to during enrollment. The student is responsible for any fees associated with a lost or damaged device.
To offset this cost, parents/guardians have the option to purchase an annual protection plan each school year for $25 for a single student or $50 for two or more students. Students on the free and reduced lunch program will be automatically enrolled in the protection plan. If you feel you should receive this enrollment, please contact your campus administrator.
To purchase the protection plan, visit BISD's online payment portal (Revtrack). Please click on the Student Chromebook tab, complete the required information, and submit the appropriate payment.
