Our Mission Statement
The Birdville Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (BRDSPD) acknowledges that students who are deaf and hard-of-hearing belong to a group that is culturally and linguistically diverse. We believe that children who are deaf or hard of hearing have an innate need to communicate and be academically challenged. The program agrees that each student's unique communication mode is respected, used, and developed (in alignment with TEC §29.303) in order to become successful participants in society. We embrace a communication method that works best for each individual child.
We have deaf education classrooms on three campuses:
- Porter Elementary
- Smithfield Middle School
- Birdville High School
We have nine Classroom Teachers, one Speech Therapist, one Itinerant Teacher, Educational Assistants, and one Parent Advisor for infants 0–3 years old who are served in their homes. For infants 0-3 years old information, contact Nancy Benham at (817) 547-3717.
