Child Find Information
Birdville ISD offers a comprehensive system of Child Find in which all individuals birth through 21 years old who may or may not be in school and who fall within our jurisdiction, regardless of the severity of the disability, will be located, identified and evaluated. Efforts include contact with private, parochial and home schools (if applicable); and public awareness activities.
Note: Services are provided at no cost to the parents
- For a child younger than 3 years with special needs contact Early Childhood Intervention of Tarrant County at 1-888-754-0524
- For a child 3 years or older with special needs, please complete the Contact Us form below. The Child Find Coordinator will contact you to begin the referral request process.
- For a school-age child with special needs or suspected disability who is not enrolled in school, please complete the Contact Us form below. The Child Find Coordinator will contact you to begin the referral request process.
Child Find refers to the federal requirement under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) that all children suspected of having a disability and need for special education and related services are identified, located and evaluated.
A parent or other person/provider may make a referral. Birdville ISD will contact the parent and/or guardian who has educational rights. If an evaluation is warranted and parental consent is obtained, a Full Individual and Initial Evaluation (FIIE) is provided at no cost to the parent.

Steps for Enrolled Students

Steps for Non-Enrolled Students
Any family who resides in or attends a non-profit private school within Birdville ISD’s boundaries that is referring their child for a special education evaluation must complete the following steps:
Step 1: Complete the Child Find Form

Step 2: Evaluation
The campus evaluation team will reach out to you to schedule a meeting. The evaluation team will also schedule walk-in appointments to complete any necessary testing. Please be prepared to bring your student to a Birdville ISD facility for testing.
Any parent/guardian who needs assistance with completing the above process can contact the appropriate coordinator. Birdville ISD is ready, willing and able to support families and/or answer questions about the evaluation process.
