About Us
Purpose and Beliefs
A quality professional learning program is essential for building capacity within schools so there is high competency and high commitment among professional staff to the core work of teaching and learning and continuous improvement.
Schools with high competency and commitment levels embrace the concept of professional learning communities as a philosophy and process to establish a collaborative culture with a focus on student achievement. Effective professional learning efforts are also aligned to the core work and include high-quality ongoing development with intensive follow-up and support. In addition, the most effective professional learning models incorporate processes that are research-based and designed to engage adult learners.
- Learning Communities: Professional learning that increases educator effectiveness and results for all students occurs within learning communities committed to continuous improvement, collective responsibility, and goal alignment.
- Leadership: Professional learning that increases educator effectiveness and results for all students requires skillful leaders who develop capacity, advocate, and create support systems for professional learning.
- Resources: Professional learning that increases educator effectiveness and results for all students requires prioritizing, monitoring, and coordinating resources for educator learning.
- Data: Professional learning that increases educator effectiveness and results for all students uses a variety of sources and types of student, educator, and system data to plan, assess, and evaluate professional learning.
- Learning Designs: Professional learning that increases educator effectiveness and results for all students integrates theories, research, and models of human learning to achieve its intended outcomes.
- Implementation: Professional learning that increases educator effectiveness and results for all students applies research on change and sustains support for implementation of professional learning for long-term change.

Instructional Leadership Teams (ILT)
Instructional Leadership Team (ILT)
ILT sessions are held monthly. Participants include all campus principals and central office instructional support staff. ILT meetings provide opportunity for district/campus leadership to collaborate and learn more about specific best practices designed to improve student achievement at every campus in the district. National, state and district curriculum and instruction experts lead ILT members in learning a variety of educational topics that help to advance the mission and initiatives of the district.
If you are a campus principal or central office instructional support staff member, there is an ILT course in Canvas that houses all of the ILT documents.

Leadership Excellence for Aspiring Principals (LEAP)
Purpose
To cultivate prospective leaders within Birdville ISD who are knowledgeable and skilled to lead campuses in a collaborative culture that is focused on results and continuous improvement.
Objectives
- Develop a working knowledge of the vision, mission, and goals for Birdville ISD.
- Develop a resume and portfolio that can be used as an applicant for an entry level administrative position.
- Demonstrate reflective practice by keeping a journal of all Academy sessions and leadership assignments.
- Develop a better understanding of the role of a campus administrator by completing a shadowing assignment with an identified principal.
- Develop interview skills by participating in a mock interview with a principal.
Selection Criteria
- Evidence of leadership abilities demonstrated in current or previous positions
- A minimum of three successful years of teaching experience with at least one full-year in Birdville ISD
- Possess or working toward completion of a Master’s Degree with principal certification (a minimum of 12 hours in an educational administration/educational leadership program)
- Evidence of commitment to ongoing professional growth
- Completed application with Letter of Intent
- A letter of reference from current supervisor/principal
- AdminFit survey and score within the top Tier
Leaders of Learners (LOL)
Leaders of Learners is a structured professional learning community composed of identified teacher leaders and administrators from every campus in the district. Meetings will be scheduled for the purpose of building campus capacity to support the core work of teaching and learning as well as provide a venue for collaborative dialogue and problem-solving. Each meeting will be designed to enhance professional learning regarding leadership, curriculum content, assessment, data-analysis, and instructional delivery by using collaborative processes. The result will be a cadre of well-trained and informed teacher leaders who are able and willing to lead professional learning communities at the campus level in alignment with district goals and initiatives.
If you are one of you campus identified teacher learners or administrators, there is an LOL course in Canvas that houses all of the LOL documents. Please contact the Professional Learning team to be added to this course.

What is the purpose of this form?
This form is for campus/district level administrators to complete when a registration link is needed for Professional Learning.
First the professional learning will be reviewed, and if approved, a registration link will be created in Strive.
The professional learning team will reach out to the administrator when / if there is a question.

How to obtain a copy of your BISD Professional Learning Portfolio
Oftentimes your new school district needs to see your previous Professional Learning documentation.
- If you are leaving the district, the best practice would be for you to save a copy of your Professional Learning Portfolio from Strive before you leave.
- If you have left the district and no longer have your BISD eduphoria! access, and did not save a copy of your Professional Learning Portfolio, please fill out our Professional Learning Documentation Request Form and allow up to one week for us to extract the files you've requested.

The BISD Professional Learning Center (PLC) is a part of the Birdville ISD Plaza. The BISD Plaza opened doors to the PLC and some of its district departments in 2020. Since then, the PLC has served as a meeting place for an array of functions throughout the district and the community.

Kitchenette
There is a kitchenette and small eating areas available for our guests to use.
Personal Care Room
The Professional Learning Center at the Plaza is proud to offer a private Personal Care Room. The room offers a table and chair, sanitizer, and a locking door.
Please check in with the receptionist upon arrival.
