Student Teacher, Classroom Observation Placement and Non-Paid Intern Candidate Information
Thank you for your interest in working with Birdville ISD to complete your student teaching, classroom observation, and/or requirements master-level internship. We welcome the opportunity to assist students in their future teaching endeavors.
Student Teacher Information
If you are interested in requesting placement as a student teacher, please have your university or ACP,
email John Campbell, Assistant Director of Human Resources. Once we have the request from your university or ACP we will begin working on your placement.
Classroom Observation Placement

Master-Level Non-Paid Internship
If you are interested in completing a non-paid internship, please have your university contact the BISD HR department: John Campbell, Assistant Director of Human Resources. Once we have the request from your university or ACP we will begin working on your placement.
When your placement has been approved, Student Teachers, Classroom Observers and Non-Paid Intern Candidates must complete a background check, which is included in the Volunteer Application. This link is also located on the left-hand side of this page.
Registration Requirements to Log Required Observation Hours in the Birdville Independent School District
Students enrolled in a two-year college, four-year university, or alternative certification program and are required to complete classroom observation hours as part of their program are welcome in Birdville ISD provided the following requirements are met:
1. Register with the Human Resources Department in the BISD Administration Office.

2. Complete and submit the online Volunteer Application (Raptor System).

3. Submit documents required by Human Resources prior to issuance of the observation clearance card:
- Picture ID - Example: Driver's license and/or current student ID issued by university;
- Course syllabus requiring observation hours; and/or
- Acceptance letter from an alternative program; and
- Raptor System email / Subject: Volunteer Application Approved
4. Obtain Birdville ISD Observation Card.
- Observation cards may be picked up by appointment only, from a Human Resources representative at the Administration Building located at 6125 East Belknap, Haltom City, 76117.
- At the time of pick-up, you will be asked to sign in with Human Resources and present your picture ID for verification.
- The student is responsible for making arrangements with the campus office, prior to observing.
- The Observation Card is required as proof that the registration process has been completed by Human Resources. The card must be presented at each campus where observation requests have been scheduled.
- All observers must sign-in and check-out in the main campus office.
Note the following exceptions and limitations:
- Campuses reserve the right to limit the number of early field and observation students permitted on their campus at any given time.
- Campuses are not required to host observation students and may decline requests at their discretion.
- Allow ten (10) working days for the observation request to be processed.
- Observations are scheduled at the discretion of the individual campus during the following months:
- Fall Semester: September (after Labor Day) through the first week of December;
- Spring Semester: February 1 through the second week of May.
