Secondary Art in BISD
Birdville ISD offers instruction in visual art at all levels. Elementary schools are serviced by a team of art educational aides that travel to each campus on a rotational basis providing approximately 10 art lessons a year to grades K-5.
Each middle and high school is staffed with one or more full-time art specialists. Curriculum includes the study of the elements of art (line, value, texture, color, form, and space) as well as the principles of art (unity, emphasis, balance, variety, movement, and proportion) through designing and creating original artworks. Various media utilized are drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and digital media. Students study the artworks of contemporary and past artists as well as their fellow students.
Birdville artists have a number of opportunities to display their artworks and enter contests such as their campus show, district show, VASE (Visual Art Scholastic Event), Jr VASE, and various community events.

Band

Birdville ISD Instrumental Music Program
BISD offers instruction in brass, woodwinds, and percussion in grades 6-12. Students are encouraged to begin instruction in 6th grade and enjoy a continuous, sequential band experience through high school and beyond.
Students begin instruction in homogeneous instrument classes and advance to full band groupings. Because band is a fully curricular academic enrichment course, students learn through a curriculum aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills required by the Texas Education Agency.
Band members have many opportunities to participate in performance activities including concerts, festivals, solo and ensemble contests, and marching band. BISD has a strong tradition of excellence in instrumental music with many awards and recognitions including selection as finalist or winners of many marching and concert band competitions.

BISD is proud to staff each of our 21 campuses with a highly qualified music specialist that follows a varied and rigorous curriculum for Pre-K through fifth grades. All fourth graders experience opera with an annual performance by the Fort Worth Children's Opera. Finally, all fifth graders experience the grandeur of a full orchestra with a field trip to hear the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra at the world-class Bass Performance Hall in downtown Fort Worth.

Theatre Arts
Birdville ISD is proud to provide theatre instruction for all 6th – 12th grade students as well as a dedicated elementary theatre program at Birdville Elementary Fine Arts School of Specialization. Private Lesson Program

BISD Private Lesson Program
About BISD Private Lesson Program
Birdville ISD Fine Arts is proud to collaborate with professional instrumental and vocal instructors from around the Dallas-Fort Worth area to provide individualized instruction for students participating in band and choir. Realizing the majority of instruction a music student receives on a daily basis is group-based, the ability for a student to receive one-on-one training has proven to provide many benefits including overall accelerated learning.
Students participating in private lessons gain personalized instruction directed specifically at their performance technique. Special attention is also given to additional musical opportunities available beyond the regular classroom curriculum including preparing for solos, ensembles, regional, and state competitions.
Band and choir students are strongly encouraged to participate in the Private Lesson Program. Lessons are scheduled once a week for 25 minutes at a cost of $22.00. For more information, contact your student's band or choir director.
