Other High School Offerings:
College Math Prep Class
This summer, Birdville ISD will offer remediation for the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA2) for mathematics through our summer school program. Your child qualifies to participate in the TSIA2 mathematics remediation because s/he took the College Preparatory Math Course this past school year and has not yet earned a passing score in the TSIA2 in the area of mathematics.
The TSIA2 is used to determine readiness for college-level work. Based on how a student scores in the assessment, the student may either enroll in a college-level math course and/or be placed on a developmental math course. The purpose of the remediation is to allow students to work on identified areas for improvement with the support of a BISD teacher and retake the TSIA2 math assessment to achieve a passing score, allowing students to enroll in college-level math courses at TCC.
The BISD TSIA2 remediation program runs from June 7th through June 30th, Monday to Thursday. A BISD teacher will be available to students from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM every school day. Students will take the TSIA2 mathematics assessment again at Richland High School at the end of summer school. There will be no cost for the student to take this course or the TSIA2 assessment. This remediation course is only for students who were enrolled in the College Prep Math course during the 2023-2024 school year.

When is the computer lab open for summer school?
All high school virtual labs are open from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Monday-Thursday. The high school math lab is open until 1:00 PM. Lab hours are available for English, Science, Social Studies, and Math. If you are taking an elective course, you should contact your instructor to arrange a tutorial.
Are students required to attend lab hours during summer school?
Not every day! Students must come to campus to take - unit tests and final exams with a teacher. Lab hours are also available for students who need help with the content as well. Labs are open Monday–Thursday for ELA, Science, Social Studies, and electives from June 18 & 20, 2024. Math labs are open from June 18 & 20, 2024 PM Monday-Thursday.
What is the difference between the A and B in Credit Recovery and Accelerated courses?
The A in the course title indicates the course is for credit for the 1st Semester (Fall Semester). The B in the course title indicates the course is for credit for the 2nd Semester (Spring Semester). It is important to make sure that students are signed up for the semester/semesters they need credit for.
How do students take their required final tests?
Students are required to take all unit tests and final exams in a monitored lab. When a student needs to take a test, they will use the lab available for their content area, open Monday- Thursday from 8:00 AM -1:00 PM, to do so.
What is the difference between Credit Recovery and Acceleration for Original Credit?
Students may be signed up for any combination of these 3 courses (credit recovery, EOC (End-of-Course) remediation, or acceleration for original credit). However, they all serve different purposes. A credit recovery course is taken by students who failed a course in the previous year. However, these courses are not NCAA-approved. Credit Recovery students have already taken the course but did not receive credit for the course due to a failing grade or incomplete hours. Credit Recovery courses are marked with the designation CR. An Accelerated course is taken by students to earn credit for the first time and also can be taken by those who failed a course and want to earn an NCAA-approved credit for that class. Students taking an Accelerated course may try to graduate early or take courses, so they have room during the year for electives or more challenging courses. Accelerated courses are marked with the designation ACC.
What supplies do my students need to bring to summer school?
All high school and middle school students must bring their Chromebooks to school every day. Middle school and high school students must wear their school ID each day. All other supplies will be available at school for students.

Extended School Year (ESY)
Students identified by their Individualized Education Program team are invited to participate in the summer Extended School Year program to provide free, appropriate education (FAPE). The program curriculum is developed based on each student’s individual needs and identified critical skills. It is designed to provide students whose IEP team decides that the benefits the child gained during the regular school year will be significantly jeopardized if the student does not receive ESY services. The need for ESY services is determined on an individual basis by the admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committee.”
Parents can contact their child’s teacher or the campus diagnostician for more information.
Secondary Summer School
High School Summer School provides in-district students entering grades 9-12 the opportunity to take courses for credit recovery, academic advancement, and or accelerated learning. > Download flyer
- Accelerated courses are taken by students to gain academic advancement and to earn credit for the first time and also can be taken by those who failed a course and want to earn an NCAA-approved credit for that class. Students taking an Accelerated Course may try to graduate early or take courses so they have room during the year for electives or more challenging courses. Accelerated courses are marked with the designation ACC.
- Accelerated Learning Courses are given to help students gain the necessary knowledge to pass a STAAR (EOC) end-of-course assessment that they did not pass in the previous school year(s). These courses will be offered through Edgenuity and are designed to meet the requirements of HB 1416 that were enacted in July 2023. Students may take these courses from home and are not required to come to school unless they need help. The school will have a lab open daily from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM with teachers available to help students. The student must complete the entire course and make a 70% or higher on the final exam for the class to count towards accelerated instruction.
- EOC Testing Courses in Edgenuity: Students who need to take an EOC Test will test on June 16, 17, and 18, 2025, depending on the assessment that the student needs.
- NCAA Eligibility: To enroll in NCAA-approved courses, please talk to your counselor. We want to ensure all students are enrolled in the correct course.
- Credit Recovery courses are taken by students who failed a course in the previous year. However, these courses are not NCAA-approved. Credit Recovery students have already taken the course but have yet to receive credit for the course due to a failing grade or incomplete hours. Credit Recovery courses are marked with the designation CR.

Transportation Information for Summer School
Transportation Information
Parents may request transportation to summer school, but this request must be approved by the Birdville Transportation Department as meeting certain criteria for bussing. Your child will only qualify for transportation if you live over 2 miles from the summer school campus or if there is a special circumstance. If your student has been assigned to a new campus during the school year, then the student must go to the home campus location in your neighborhood to ride the bus. Transportation will be provided from major apartment complexes. You may request transportation during the summer school registration process in your child's Focus Portal.
All transportation for summer school is set up on the student's home campus or the closest elementary campus to your home for the school year. Please call your student's school to set up transportation and do not contact the transportation department directly. If a parent requests transportation during registration, your child should receive information via Focus, email, or a letter from the campus about the bus number, times, and locations. If you don't receive any information, please contact your current child's teacher or home school's front office. Buses do not make neighborhood stops except in special circumstances, such as if a school is being rebuilt or for special education. Please note that any new bus assignments or changes to your child's enrollment can affect bus assignments. In these instances, please be prepared to transport your child during their first three (3) days of school.
Please remember that your child must be at the bus stop at least 7–10 minutes before pick-up. All parents/guardians with students in kindergarten/1st grade must have a signed release form on file in the Transportation Department. This form can be found at your home campus. All parents/guardians with students in kindergarten must meet their child at the bus stop. These students will not be permitted to exit the bus without a parent/guardian present at arrival unless previously noted in writing to the Transportation Department.
If you have changes in transportation for your student during summer school, please call the main office of the summer school. This ensures that we get the correct information to students about how they will be picked up from school.
Information About the Parent Portal App
