#BISDAlert
Birdville ISD created the hashtag #BISDAlert to draw attention to special messages from the District or campuses for students, staff and parents. It is used at the beginning of messages that contain important emergency, and/or urgent, information concerning the District or campus. Examples of when #BISDAlert is used include weather closings/delays, campus evacuations, campus lockdowns, etc.
Winter Weather - January 2026
Wednesday, 1/28/2026 - 3:30 pm - Message BISD Campuses and District Offices will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 29

After careful consideration of safety and ongoing monitoring of conditions throughout our community, Birdville ISD will return to school tomorrow, Thursday, January 29 on normal schedules, and we look forward to seeing you! Buses will run regularly scheduled routes and our cafeterias will be ready with prepared breakfast and lunch options.
As we return to regular operations on Thursday, please note that several adjustments have been made to athletic and fine arts schedules. Please check campus calendars for updates.
Our facilities and maintenance staff have worked diligently throughout this winter weather event to monitor our buildings and grounds and prepare them for our safe return. From shoveling sidewalks to protecting pipes to making sure indoor temperatures are warm and cozy for tomorrow, their care, commitment and behind-the-scenes efforts have been essential, and we are incredibly grateful for their hard work.
Thank you to our Birdville ISD community for your continued support and understanding, and we look forward to seeing our students back in class on Thursday!
Tuesday, 1/27/2026 - 2 pm - Message Closure on Wednesday, Jan. 28

Birdville ISD schools and district offices will remain closed on Wednesday, January 28, due to ongoing winter weather and potentially hazardous road conditions.
We will continue to monitor conditions with the hope of quick improvement once the sun comes out and temperatures settle above freezing midday on Wednesday. Meanwhile, our maintenance and custodial crews continue to monitor and prepare our buildings to ensure our facilities are ready for students and staff to return on Thursday, January 29.
We look forward to welcoming you back on Thursday, and we thank you for your continued support and understanding as we navigate these weather conditions together.
Sunday, January 25 - 3 pm - Closure on Tuesday, Jan. 27

Birdville ISD schools and district offices will remain closed on Tuesday, January 27, due to ongoing winter weather, potentially hazardous road conditions, and extreme cold temperatures.
While we are expecting (and looking forward to) sunshine on Monday, the latest guidance from the National Weather Service and our local emergency operations personnel indicates that sunshine will not be enough to melt the icy conditions and allow us to return to school on Tuesday morning. The amount of freezing precipitation our area has received is too significant to fully melt without several hours of sustained sunshine and above-freezing temperatures. Current forecasts do not predict temperatures to rise above freezing until Tuesday afternoon at the earliest. This means roads, especially neighborhood and side roads, and walkways may not be clear, and temperatures and windchills may not be safe for students who walk/bike to school or wait at bus stops.
We will continue to monitor conditions with the hope of quick improvement once temperatures settle above freezing. Meanwhile, our maintenance and custodial crews continue to monitor our buildings to ensure our facilities are ready for students and staff to return on Wednesday, January 28.
Friday, January 23 - 3:55 pm - Closure on Monday, Jan. 26

Dear BISD Families,
Birdville ISD will be closed on Monday, January 26, due to inclement winter weather. The safety of our students, staff and families is always our top priority, and developing weather and deteriorating road conditions are expected to make travel unsafe in many areas of our district and throughout North Texas.
At this time, we are planning for classes to resume on Tuesday, January 27, on normal schedules. Our BISD Emergency Management Team will continue to actively monitor weather forecasts through multiple sources, including regular National Weather Service briefings, and coordinate with city and county officials to assess local road and weather conditions as they develop so we can make informed decisions. Any updates regarding school on Tuesday will be provided to you directly on Monday afternoon via email, text, phone call, on the BISD website and on social media as soon as decisions are made.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Please stay safe and warm!
