Head Lice

Elementary School children are prone to getting head lice.

  • Some of the best ways to prevent head lice are:

Check your child's head weekly throughout the school year for nits or live lice.

Check your child's hair after sleepovers/slumber parties.

Remind children to keep combs, brushes, hats, and headbands to themselves.

If you do find live lice, please let the school nurse know and anybody who has been in close head to head contact with your child. (ex: siblings, family members.) Follow directions on OTC lice treatments exactly.

Comb through child's hair with nit comb daily after treatment for at least 3 weeks.
