Porter Elementary School
Birdville ISD has partnered with Clarity BrightBytes to survey students, parents, and campus staff on the impact of technology use both inside and outside the classroom. The results of the survey will help BISD develop appropriate digital learning opportunities to best serve the needs of all students. The District is also committed to providing appropriate digital resources, at the right cost, in order to maximize the use of existing technology. BrightBytes is a web-based, research-driven tool that will assist BISD evaluate the current digital learning approaches and technologies available to our students.
All questionnaires — student, teachers, and parents — are available in Spanish. - Who can participate in the survey? Any BISD student enrolled in grades 3-8 will have the opportunity to take the survey during the school day. Parents will also be invited to participate in their child’s campus survey. Campus teachers and administrators will participate in the survey during the school day.
- Are questionnaires anonymous? Yes. The questionnaires do not collect any specific personal or identifying information about students, teachers, or parents. Students are asked what grade they are in and teachers are asked if they are elementary, middle, or high school teachers. Parents are not required to provide any information about themselves or their children.
- How long will the survey be open? The survey will be live during a three week window, April 18 - May 6, 2016.
- Do parents who have children enrolled in multiple campuses take each campus survey? Yes, BISD encourages parents to participate in each campus survey. Data will be used to better target areas of strength for both district and campus instructional planning. BISD values parent feedback and we appreciate your input.
- Do campus employees whom have children enrolled at BISD participate in both the parent campus survey and the staff campus survey? Yes, BISD values input from employees who serve the role of both an employee and a parent at BISD.
- How much time is required to participate in the survey? We understand that teachers and students are busy! All questionnaires are web-based and in multiple-choice format. CASE questionnaires can be completed on any screen size and browser. Surveys for students and staff take around 15 minutes. Parent and campus administrator questionnaires only take around 5 minutes to complete.
- How will results be used at BISD? Your response will assist BISD towards better decisions regarding digital resources, training, and support for academic student success. BrightBytes will provide the district with meaningful data about the current state of technology in our schools, the use of technologies, and if technologies are meeting the needs of students and teachers.
