Aggie          Howdy Walker Creek Family and Friends,

I am excited to be back teaching Reading for the 2017-2018 school year. I have 10 years teaching experience. I look forward to teaching 5th grade Reading for the 3rd year in a row at Walker Creek.
I graduated from Texas A&M in 1991, WHOOP!! I have a degree in Elementary/Curriculum Instruction with a minor in Reading.  I have been in Birdville for 4 years. I started out as a Reading Interventionist & Dyselxia specialist at Richland Middle School teaching 6-8th graders. I have been at Walker Creek for 3 years. I am GT and ESL certified. I was born in Bryan, Texas. I have been married for 25 years, have two beautiful children. Addison, my daughter, is 20.  She is currently attending MSU in Witchita Falls, majoring in Marketing. My son Cade is 16 and attends Byron Nelson High School. He plays Triple AAA/Major Select baseball during the Summer and plays for Byron during the Spring.  My husband manages a family medical practice and enjoys photography on the side.

In April of 1995, I had a life-changing event while teaching 3rd grade. I was diagnosed with a rare tumor in my knee. I spent many days at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The tumor was benign. I spent close to 1 year in Rehab learning to walk/run and retrain my body to do normal activities. After going through such an experience. I  decided to go into the Fitness Industry, so I could encourage others to strive towards their personal goals.  I have been a Personal Trainer for 14 years. I  ran Keller Pointe's Group Fitness program, taught group fitness classes and boot camps. I still enjoy having group Training Classes at my home during the summer.

As a teacher, my greatest joy is watching a student grow throughout the year; finding that each student can achieve their best, with hard work and dedication. I love to watch my students fall in love with Reading.  I have the passion and the drive to help my students succeed and overcome their challenges. I strive to help my students think deeper, so they can excel in their learning.
