I am excited to begin my 19th year teaching as a Special Education Teacher! This is truly my calling and love building relationships with my students and their families! I believe my role in their learning and growing goes well beyond the few years they spend with me and I am enjoying the notes, emails and visits from past students and hearing about their successes and adventures in their lives!
I've also taught 3rd grade for 14 years. Several of those years have been in a co-teaching classroom as a general education teacher working alongside the special education teacher. I have a Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in Literacy and Technology from University of Nevada-Las Vegas. My Bachelor’s degree is in Journalism. I grew up in the Chicago area and moved to Texas in 2005 from Las Vegas, Nevada.
In my spare time I scrapbook, play guitar, make fairy gardens, read and write. I have three dogs - two sweet Jack Russel country mix pups, Peanut and Jaxson and a Dachshund named Doodle. I am an avid supporter of otters!
I believe in always making a difference, no matter how small the effort and that is why the “Starfish Story” and “The Gift of the Magi” are stories that define WHY I am a teacher. The starfish you see in our classroom is a reminder that each child is different and that we can ALL make a difference in others and ourselves.
