Laurel's
undergraduate degree was in Secondary Education. Her first professional
position was teaching students in the Juvenile Detention system.
Following her teaching experience, Laurel served as a middle school
counselor, an elementary counselor, and an elementary assistant
principal. She has earned graduate degrees in School Counseling
and School Psychology. One of Laurel's specific areas of interest
is pediatric neuropsychology, specifically neurodevelopmental differences
and how they affect learning. Laurel also teaches workshops on Nonviolent
Physical Crisis Intervention and has enjoyed facilitating Love and
Logic seminars for parents and teachers. As a member of the Girls
and Boys Town training team, Laurel participates actively in the
implementation of that program within the Birdville ISD.
