A

Actuarial Foundation

The Actuarial Foundation is engaged in a wide variety of ongoing youth education programs, including financial literacy materials for students, as well as scholarships that recognize and encourage the academic achievements of graduating high school seniors pursuing a higher education in mathematics.

Affymetrix

Affymetrix makes charitable donations to non profit organizations. They contribute to programs that support science and math education, focusing on K-12 students and their teachers. Requests are reviewed four times a year. The average grant is $2500.

Albertson’s Community Support Program

Albertson’s support is targeted to health and nutrition. The emphasis should be on community needs that are present and identifiable.

Allstate

The Allstate Foundation supports national and local programs that fit within three focus areas. Proposals for program support must address needs within one of the three focus areas to be considered for funding: Safe and vital communities, Economic empowerment, and Tolerance, inclusion and diversity. The Foundation has no deadlines for submission.

American Honda

The American Honda Foundation provides grants in the fields of youth education and scientific education. Programs should be dreamful (imaginative), creative, youthful, forward thinking, scientific, humanistic, innovative.

American Legion Child Welfare Foundation

The Foundation’s priority is to provide other nonprofit organizations with a means to educate the public about the needs of children across the nation. Applications must be requested from April 1 through July 1.

American Library Association

As part of its We the People initiative, the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is collaborating with the American Library Association to present the We the People Bookshelf, a program to encourage young people to read and understand great literature while exploring themes in American history. School libraries are eligible to apply.

American School Health Association

The CDC Foundation offers a grant opportunity for elementary schools to improve the health of school children by increasing physical activity and nutrition programs for children. The majority of these mini-grants will range from $1000 to $5000.

Annenberg Foundation

The Annenberg Foundation provides support for projects within areas of education and youth, arts and culture, civic and community, and health.

Arthur Vining Davis Foundation

The majority of grants will be made to innovative professional development programs that strengthen teachers and their teaching in grades 9-12. The Foundation is also interested in public television as an educational medium. Grants primarily provide partial support for major educational series assured of national airing by PBS. Consideration will also be given from time to time to single stand-alone programs of exceptional merit.

ASCAP Foundation

The ASCAP Foundation is dedicated to supporting American music creators and encouraging their development through music education and talent development programs. The average grant is $5000.

AT&T Foundation

AT&T supports a variety of comprehensive programs through direct grants and employee-directed contributions. Many of the programs are tied to inventive use of technology and the spirit of volunteerism. The funds are typically distributed through invitational programs that they proactively develop with nonprofit organizations.

AXA Foundation

The AXA Foundation direct grants program focuses intensively on areas such as after-school programs, community service, and eldercare education, primarily for high school seniors.

Bank of the West

The bank’s contribution program supports nonprofit organizations that contribute to educational, civic, cultural, health and human care needs and is committed to improving the low- and moderate-income residents of Colorado.

Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy

The Foundation makes grants of up to $65,000 each to develop or expand projects that foster literacy skills for families. Components of literacy programs should include literacy for adults, parent education, pre-literacy activities for children, or intergenerational literacy activities components.

Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble considers requests for local and regional support with non-profit organizations that focus on literacy, the arts, or education (K-12).

Baseball Tomorrow Fund

The mission of BTF is to promote and enhance the growth of youth participation in baseball and softball throughout the world by funding programs, fields, coaches’ training, and the purchase of uniforms and equipment to encourage and maintain youth participation in the game. Grants are designed to be sufficiently flexible to enable applicants to address needs unique to their communities.

Beaumont Foundation of America

The Beaumont Foundation of America is dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals by providing technology to historically underserved schools and communities. Awards are state-of-the art wireless laptop computers and technology equipment. No monetary awards are available.

Bechtel Foundation

Grant recipients are typically youth and educational programs. Click on Grant Categories to get a list of other foundations available.

Blakemore Freeman Foundation

Blakemore Fellowships are awarded for one year of advanced level language study in East or Southeast Asia in approved language programs.

BMW Group

The BMW Group provides funding for charitable programs that seek to benefit society. They give highest consideration to those that focus on education, road safety and the environment. They have an online application.

Boettcher Foundation

The Boettcher Foundation makes grants to a variety of educational institutions. These grants are generally for capital construction projects and building improvements. Often the Foundation makes challenge grants for projects with the rest of the money raised in the particular community. Bohemian Foundation Pharos Fund

The Bohemian Foundation focuses on improving the quality of life in Fort Collins through efforts to strengthen children’s futures. They support youth programs, children’s development, and children in the context of their families, communities, and policy development. Grants may be for up to $30,000.

Bonfils-Stanton Foundation

The Bonfils-Stanton Foundation is committed to advancing excellence in the areas of Arts and Culture, Community Service, and Medicine by funding distinctive Colorado nonprofit organizations that are making a significant and unique impact in their companies. Proposal deadlines are March 31, June 30, September 30, December 30.

Braitmayer Foundation

The Foundation is interested in K-12 education throughout the US. Of particular interest are: curricular and school reform initiatives; preparation of and professional development opportunities for teachers, particularly those which encourage people of high ability and diverse background to enter and remain in K-12 teaching.

Brinker International Corporate Contributions (Chili’s Grill and Bar)

Giving back in the communities where their employees live and work is of Brinker International’s core values. With a diverse variety of local fund-raising activities and corporate giving programs, Brinker and its restaurants contribute more than $3 million a year to a number of worthwhile charities. To apply, give them the amount requested and the specific purpose of the donation briefly summarized in 1-2 typewritten pages.

Brower Youth Awards

An annual national award that recognizes 6 young people for their outstanding activism and achievements in the fields of environmental and social justice advocacy.

Brown Foundation

The purpose of The Brown Foundation is to distribute funds for public charitable purposes, principally for support, encouragement, and assistance to education, community service and the arts. The emphasis is in the field of public education at the primary and secondary levels.

Buell Foundation (Temple Hoyne)

The Buell Foundation seeks programs that have demonstrated success in helping children thrive. They support efforts to improve quality and encourage meaningful evaluation and assessment. It is their goal to partner with outstanding organizations to improve the systems that serve children. Particular focus will be placed on programs that target underserved communities.

Burt Foundation

The Foundation generally restricts its grants to organizations dealing with and affecting the needs of children and senior citizens, primarily in, but not limited to, the Denver metropolitan area of Colorado. A grant application for a specific purpose, program, or need is far more likely to receive favorable consideration than an application for general administrative or operational costs. Deadline is March 30.

Butler-Cooley Excellence in Teaching Awards

The program seeks to honor education professionals who have changed the outcome of students’ lives and the communities in which they live. $5000, plus travel expenses.

Cappelli Foundation

The Louis R. Cappelli Foundation’s mission is to make grants in support of philanthropic activities, with focus on programs addressing the special needs of youth. Three specific targeted areas where the Foundation focuses its attention are education, health and fitness, and arts education. Applications are due June 30.

Captain Planet Foundation

The mission of the Captain Planet Foundation is to fund and support hands-on environmental projects for children. The objective is to encourage innovative programs that empower children and youth around the world to individually and collectively solve environmental problems in their neighborhoods and communities. The Foundation offers a limited number of grant awards ranging from $250 to $2,500. Deadlines for submitting grant applications are March 31, June 30, Septmeber30, and December 31.

Carnegie Corporation of New York

Carnegie Corporation is a general-purpose grantmaking foundation established “for the advancement and diffusion of knowledge and understanding among the people of the United States.” The Corporation accepts requests for funding at all times of the year and welcomes inquiries from potential grantees. Grantseekers who would like to approach the foundation with a preliminary request for funding are encouraged to submit a letter of inquiry. If the project described in the letter fits the foundation’s guidelines, the sender will be contacted and asked to submit a proposal.

Chambers Family Fund

The Fund invests time, expertise and funding in organizations that improve girls’ futures, help women become economically self-sufficient, enhance the early care and education of children, strengthen democratic values and enrich the arts and culture.

Chase Bank

The philanthropic division supports programs that provide young people with the financial literacy skills they need to succeed in work and in life. It promotes partnerships among schools, parents and community agencies in low-income areas. It supports arts giving, including access to the arts. A two-page letter of intent is needed to initiate the process.

Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation

The Christopher Columbus Foundation was established to “encourage and support research, study, and labor designed to produce new discoveries in all fields of endeavor for the benefit of mankind.” It seeks to nurture and recognize pioneering individuals and programs that reflect the visionary spirit and pioneering heritage of Christopher Columbus. Several awards are offered through the foundation.

Citi Bank

The Foundation provides grants for financial programs which lead to the development of assets that can help increase family stability encourage better consumer habits and eventually increase an individual’s stake in his/her community. The Foundation also supports organizations that deliver economic and financial education to young people to help them learn how to create wealth in their community and make informed financial choices.

Coca-Cola Foundation

The mission of the Foundation is to improve the quality of life in the community and enhance individual opportunity through education. The Foundation supports programs primarily within three main areas: higher education, classroom teaching and learning, and international education. The programs support scholarships for aspiring students, encourage, and motivate young people to stay in school, and foster cultural understanding.

Coming Up Taller Awards

The Coming Up Taller Awards support after-school and out-of-school programs that are tangible examples of the power of the arts and the humanities to encourage young people’s creativity and to provide them with learning opportunities, chances to contribute to their community, and ways to take responsibility for their own futures.

Coors Foundation

The Foundation provides financial assistance to charitable organizations whose primary interests are health, education, youth, community and human services, civic and cultural programs.

The Dana Center ahs received support to develop and identity promising educational innovations for widespread dissemination. Five Dana-supported innovations are: Accelerated Schools Program, Family Math and Family service, Emerging Scholars Program, Reading Recovery, and AVID.

Daniels Fund

The Daniels Fund Grants Program supports organizations under the categories of: Aging, Alcoholism & Substance Abuse, Amateur Sports, Disabilities, Education, Homeless & Disadvantaged, and Youth Development. Grant applications are accepted at any time.

Dreyers Foundation

Dreyers makes small grants (less the $1,000) and donates ice cream products, gift certificates, and auction times to bona fide non-profit organizations for events. There are also large grants (over $3,000) available.

The Foundation makes grants to organizations in Loveland and Northern Colorado. The Foundation prefers to make a one-time capital investment in plant or equipment.

Ezra Jack Keats Foundation

The Foundation has been dedicated to maintaining the goals and values of Keats, as expressed in his multicultural work, by focusing on bettering the lives of children through programs to increase literacy, to inspire creativity and love of learning, and to enhance appreciation of the arts in children, their families and communities: a total arts-in education approach.

Ford Foundation

The Ford Foundation’s goals are to strengthen democratic values, reduce poverty and injustice, promote international cooperation, and advance human achievement. Before a request is made for a grant or program-related investment, a brief letter of inquiry is advisable to determine whether the foundation’s present interest and funds permit consideration of the request.

Fort Fund

The objective of Fort Fund is to foster, encourage, and promote cultural activities, tourism, and other events. Events may be artistic, ethnic, historic, educational or recreational in nature and reflect the values and traditions of Fort Collins

Gannett Foundation

Gannett Foundation gives grants to organizations in the communities in which Gannett owns a daily newspaper. The Foundation values projects that take a creative approach to education and neighborhood improvement, youth development, environmental conservation and cultural enrichment.

General Mills Youth Nutrition & Fitness

Each year, the Foundation awards 50 grants of $10,000 each to community-based groups that develop creative ways to help youth adopt a balanced diet and physically active lifestyle.

Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation

The Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation is a major source of financial support of educational and research projects designed to enhance the future of the graphic communications industry. High schools and their faculty members may apply. Full grant applications are due May 30. Mini-grant proposals may be submitted at any time.

Hagen Family Foundation

The Hagen Family Foundation favors proposals which seek start-up costs for creative new strategies, identify on-going means for being self sustaining, promote prevention of social problems, demonstrate inter-agency cooperation, and/or empower targeted populations to meet their own needs more effectively.

Hasbro Children’s Foundation

Hasbro supports the development and/or expansion of programs for children under age 13 and universally accessible play spaces. For playgrounds, priority is given to economically disadvantaged areas and new construction. Grants are generally under $10,000. Hearst Foundations

The Foundations assist institutions in providing opportunities to underserved and underrepresented populations. The Foundations do not have application forms and accept proposals year round. They prefer that applicants submit a one-page executive summary accompanied by a five-page proposal narrative described on the website.

Hewlett Packard

The K-12 HP Technology for Teaching grant initiative is designed to support innovative and effective uses of technology in the classroom setting. HP will grant approximately 100 awards to K-12 public schools that are using a collaborative, team-based approach to implementing technology integration projects.

Hill Foundation

While not encouraged, unsolicited proposals are reviewed on an ongoing basis. The organization should make an initial inquiry in the form of a two-page letter. Inspiration Software Inspired Teachers Scholarship Competition

This scholarship competition supports teachers seeking to incorporate visual learning activities into the classroom. Funds may be used to attend workshops, conferences, or take graduate courses focusing on visual learning and/or technology in education. Twenty-five scholarships of $750 each are available.

International Reading Association

IRA honors educators, authors, and others involved in reading and literacy efforts through nearly 40 awards and grants.

Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program

The Teacher Program is designed to introduce participants to Japan and Japanese education. It seeks a maximum of 600 participants from a broad cross section of the American primary and secondary educational community in order to reflect the rich cultural, institutional and regional diversity of the United States.

Jared Polis Foundation

The Foundation encourages individuals and organizations to be proactive by supporting and pursuing education and technology in Colorado communities. JCPenney

JCPenney receives more requests for contributions than its budgets will allow it to support. To help with reviewing contribution requests, the Company has targeted the JC Penney Afterschool Fund, a charitable organization committed to providing children with quality afterschool programs.

Johnson Foundation (Helen K. and Arthur E.)

The Foundation directs its philanthropic resources primarily to tax exempt Colorado organizations that relieve suffering, meet basic human needs, promote self-sufficiency, and enrich the quality of life.

JPMorgan Chase

JPMorgan Chase funds grants and sponsorships to not-for-profit organizations around the world. The areas funded are youth education, community life, and community asset development.

Kellogg Foundation

Although breakfast cereal pioneer W.K. Kellogg became one of the world’s wealthiest men, he considered it his responsibility to share his fortune with the world. The Foundation prefers that grant applicants submit their pre-proposals electronically by using the Foundation’s online application.

Kenneth King Foundation

The King Foundation, located in Denver, was established to perpetuate and expand the principals that King developed in his lifetime of helping those less fortunate than himself. The Foundation continues to focus on helping those in need by doing the common thing in an uncommon way.

Kerr Foundation, Inc.

The areas considered are education, health, cultural development and community service. Consideration of a proposal will normally be in the form of a challenge grant. This means that the organization approved for a grant must first raise or secure grants, donations and pledges in a total amount equal to that specified in the Kerr grant.

Kinder Morgan

The Kinder Morgan Foundation is dedicated to supporting non-profit programs that enhance the quality of life in Kinder Morgan communities (Wellington). Through charitable contributions to youth and education, the Foundation gives Kinder Morgan the opportunity to invest in the future leaders of America and contribute to the viability of the communities they serve.

Mathematics Education Trust (MET)

MET supports the improvement of mathematics teaching and learning through the funding of grants, awards, and other projects. MET provides funds to support classroom teachers in the areas of improving classroom practices and increasing teachers’ mathematical knowledge.

Microsoft

Microsoft accepts funding proposals from eligible organizations through Microsoft subsidiary offices located around the world.

Milagro Foundation

Started in 1998 by Deborah and Carlos Santana, the Milagro Foundation seeks to serve needs of children and youth in the arts, education and health. Milagro focuses on (1) helping children live healthy lives through education and prevention; (2) helping live literate lives through learning; (3) helping live culturally enriched lives through arts education. Grants are typically between $2,500-$10,000.

Milken Family Foundation

Although approximately 80% of the Foundation’s funding is directed toward its own initiatives, the Foundation accepts applications for funding from outside organizations.

Mockingbird Foundation

The Mockingbird Foundation generates its charitable proceeds from the musical group Phish. It offers competitive grants to schools and nonprofit organizations that effect improvements in music education for children. Funding limits are up to $5000 given on one-time basis, throughout the U.S. The Foundation is particularly interested in organizations with low overhead and collaborative elements to their work.

Monfort Family Foundation

The Foundation makes grants to organizations principally in Northeastern Colorado with special emphasis on Weld County. Funds are earmarked primarily for projects and/or groups promoting access to education, development of the arts and humanities, and providing various forms of aid to the disadvantaged. Contact:

Moss Foundation for Children’s Education

Applications may be made for a grant of $1,000 to support a new or evolving program that integrates the arts into educational programming. The purpose is to aid and support teachers who wish to establish an effective learning tool using the arts in teaching children with learning disabilities and other special needs. Programs eligible for these grants must be in planning stages or in existence for less than two years.

Mountains & Plains Booksellers Association

The Association annually presents grants of $500-$1000 to support non-profit literacy programs in the Fort Collins region. Applications must be received by September 1 and should be sent to the address on the application.

National Book Scholarship Fund

The purpose of the National Book Scholarship Fund is to provide local literacy programs throughout the U.S. with New Readers Choice books and other educational materials needed to support literacy initiatives.

National Council for the Social Studies

Social studies educators teach students the content knowledge, intellectual skills, and civic values necessary for fulfilling the duties of citizenship in a participatory democracy. The mission of National Council for the Social Studies is to provide leadership, service, and support for the social studies educators.

National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE)

NEFE is a Colorado-based, non-profit foundation dedicated to helping individual Americans acquire the information and gain the skills necessary to take control of their financial lives. NEFE accomplished its mission by partnering with other concerned organizations and individuals to provide financial education to young people; underserved segments of society whose financial concerns are not being addressed by others, or that have special needs.

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Schools for a New Millennium Program

The Schools for a New Millennium program offers K-12 educators an opportunity to improve the teaching of a humanities subject throughout their entire school. A project will engage teachers, administrators, students, scholars, and others in two years of intensive collaborative work. It should emphasize professional and curricular development and the use of new technology. It will serve as a model of long-term curricular improvement for other schools.

National Fish and Wildlife Foundation

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation operates a conservative grants program that awards matching grants on a competitive basis, to eligible grant recipients, including federal, tribal, state and local governments, educational institutions, and non-profit conservation organizations.

National 4-H Council

National 4-H Council provides grants and establishes programs fostering innovation and shared learning to advance development movement, building a world in which youth and adults learn, grow, and work together for positive change. Programs are listed on the website.

National Geographic Society Education Foundation Teacher Grants

The National Geographic teacher grants fund projects that seek to improve student achievement through geographic literacy, engage in efforts to implement state and national geography standards, provide hands-on and field experiences in geography, encourage community awareness of geography programs, and deliver professional development in geography teachers.

National Schools of Character Awards

NSOC is an annual awards program recognizing K-12 schools and districts demonstrating outstanding character education initiatives that yield positive results in student behavior, school climate and academic performance.

National Science Teachers Association

NSTA’s mission is to promote excellence and innovation in science teaching and learning for all. They offer several different awards, grants, and competitions.

National Weather Association (NWA)

Grants are available annually from the NWA to help improve the education of their students in meteorology. The teachers selected will be able to use the funds to take an accredited course in atmospheric sciences, attend a relevant workshop or conference, or purchase scientific materials or equipment for the classroom. Applications are due by August 1 each year.

Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon has dedicated over a million dollars in funding Just for Play! Kids can enter their school or community-based programs to win a $5000 grant. Kids 6 to 15 years old as of May 31, 2006 can apply for their after school community based organizations and their public and non-profit private elementary and middle schools grade K-9.

The company makes grants to organizations whose areas of interest include education, human services, and the environment. No special form is required for standard grants. Bring students together for a class project using Olympus digital cameras and Tool Factory’s software. Grants will be judged based on: effective use of digital cameras in the curriculum, effective use of the software resources, degree of student involvement, and creativity and fun.

Open Meadows Foundation

The Open Meadows Foundation makes grants to support projects designed and implemented by women and girls: projects that have limited financial access reflecting the cultural and ethnic diversity of our society and promoting the empowerment of women and girls: and projects for social change that have encountered obstacles in their search for funding.

Organization of American Historians

The OAH sponsors an annual award to recognize the contributions made by precollegiate or classroom teachers to improve history education. The award is given for activities which enhance the intellectual development of history teachers and/or students.

Poudre Valley Hospital Foundation

Price Foundation (Louis & Harold)

The RadioShack StreetSentz Community Grant program focuses on two areas: prevention of family violence/abuse and/or child abduction. Limit grant requests to $500 or less in value.

REI, Inc.

REI employees nominate non-profit organizations for REI grants. They do not accept unsolicited grant requests and proposals. They accept nominations from employees for projects or programs that focus on protecting outdoor places for recreation or helping increase participation in outdoor activities.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s mission is to improve the health and care of all Americans. The Foundations support training, education, and projects that demonstrate the effective delivery of health care services.

Scholastic’s Book Grants Program provides high-quality reading materials to the nation’s neediest young people. The company identifies nonprofit organizations that are well suited to reach the nation’s at-risk children. Book grants are distributed on two levels: large-scale donations of 100,000 books or more are awarded to organizations that can demonstrate how they will creatively use the donation to meet children’s literacy needs. Small-scale (unsolicited) donations of 50-200 books are awarded to literacy organizations that operate under sections 501(c).

Scotts Miracle-Gro Company

Through its Give Back to Grow corporate caring initiative, The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company celebrates and honors individuals who take pride in giving back to their communities through gardening. The company salutes elementary through high school teachers who have integrated a school gardening program into their curriculum. Each winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize and public recognition for their work. Each of the two finalists in each category will receive a $2,500 cash prize.

SeaWorld/Busch Gardens/Fujifilm Environmental Excellence Awards

The awards (not grants) recognize the outstanding efforts of students and teachers across the country who are working at the grassroots level to protect and preserve the environment.

SHOPA Foundation

The purpose of the grants is to provide funds for classroom teachers who have innovative, meritorious ideas but lack the budget to bring them to life. The project may qualify if it makes creative use of common teaching aids, approaches the curriculum from an imaginative angle, or ties nontraditional concepts together for the purpose of illustrating commonalities. Shoup Trust Fund

Sony

Sony’s company-wide philanthropic efforts focus on several areas: arts education, arts and culture, health and human services, civic and community outreach, education and olunteerism. Positive consideration is given to efforts that promote literacy and basic educational competency. The company welcomes requests throughout the year.

Starbucks Foundation

Starbucks funds programs for youth, ages 6-18 that integrate literacy with personal and civic action in the communities where they live. The Foundation invites letters of inquiry from organizations that work with underserved youth in the fields of literacy (reading, writing and creative/media arts) and environmental literacy. Grants range from $5,000-$20,000. Letters of Inquiry are reviewed twice yearly: September 1st and March 1st.

Surdna Foundation

The Surdna Foundation makes grants to nonprofit organizations in the areas of environment, community revitalization, effective citizenry, and the arts. The first step for most applicants is sending Surdna a letter of inquiry. Applicants are asked to send full proposals only when requested by a Foundation staff member.

Sutherland Family Foundation

The Foundation supports projects that enrich lives through education, social services, and the arts. Its program priorities derive primarily from active involvement in the Fort Collins and Colorado communities. Deadlines for receipt of grant applications are April 1 or October 1. Grants will usually be in the $1,000 to $5,000 range.

Target

Target store team leaders play a key role in local grant programs. Most local grants average $1,000 to $3,000. Currently the focus is on three areas: arts, family violence prevention and reading. Target also offers $800 grants for scholastic field trips.  Field trip grants are due November 1.

Tellabs

The mission of the Tellabs Foundation is to advance specific, strategic endeavors—primarily in education, health and the environment—in communities where Tellabs employees live and work.

Thomson Gale TEAMS Award

The Thomson Gale TEAMS Award recognizes and encourages the critical collaboration between the teacher and media specialist to promote learning and increase student achievement.

Tony Hawk Foundation

The foundation considers projects that are designed and built by qualified and experienced skatepark contractors, in low-income areas or areas with a high percentage of at-risk youth open during daylight hours and year-round, and in areas that currently have no skateboarding facilities.

Unsung Heroes

All K-12 education professionals are eligible. All awards must be used to further the projects within the school or school system. Each of the 100 finalists will receive an award of $2,000.

US Bancorp

The US Bancorp Foundation provides cash contributions to nonprofit organizations in the priority areas of affordable housing and economic opportunities, education, and artistic and cultural enrichment.

Virgil Thomson Foundation

The basic purpose of the Foundation is to further promote the performance, preservation, dissemination and public appreciation of serious music in general and the music and writings of Virgil Thomson in particular.

Walgreens

Most Walgreen grants are made to eligible nonprofits working in local Walgreen communities. A small share is reserved for eligible community and social service agencies. Health is a major area of focus.

Wallace Foundation

The WF is currently active in three focus areas: Arts Participation, Education Leadership, and Out-of-School Learning. The Foundation solicits proposals from organizations it identifies for programs it initiates and unsolicited proposals are rarely funded.

Wal-Mart Foundation

The Foundation believes that the community concerns are best addressed in the local community. It is their goal to look for ways to help improve the local communities where the company associates and customers live. To learn more about receiving a grant from the local Wal-Mart or SAM’s Club, see the Community Involvement Coordinator at the location nearest you.

Wells Fargo Bank

Wells Fargo contributions are primarily directed to Arts and Culture, Education, Economic Development, Health Care and Human Services. Grant proposals and applications are accepted throughout the year.

Xcel Energy

Xcel offers two kinds of grants. The Disseminator is awarded to a certified K-12 teacher whose school receives gas and/or electricity from Xcel. The teacher is required to prepare a curriculum packet for their program and share their packet with teachers interested in adapting their program. An Adapter is awarded to a certified teacher who takes a program from the Classroom Connection web site and creatively modifies it to his/her own classroom situation.

Yes I Can Foundation for Exceptional Children

The Foundation for Exceptional Children established the Yes I Can! International Awards Program to acknowledge the achievements of children and youth with disabilities; to overcome barriers caused by public misconceptions; to encourage children and youth with disabilities to seek their highest potential; and to increase public awareness of the abilities, aspirations, and personal qualities of people with disabilities.

Youth Garden Grants

National Gardening Association awards Youth Garden Grants to schools and community organizations with child-centered, outdoor garden programs. Applicants must plan to garden with at least 15 children between the ages of 3 and 18 years.

Youth Service America

Grants and awards support and motivate youth, teachers, service-learning coordinators, and youth-serving organizations to plan and implement projects for National Youth Service Day and on-going service throughout the year.
