Accountability Ratings
Texas annually rates its public schools and districts on the academic performance of their students. The TEA School Accountability ratings, instituted in 1993, judge the performance of each campus and district by administering a rating based on TAKS scores, previous TAAS scores, and the State-Developed Alternative Assessment (SDAA) scores. The SDAA test is for special education students. In addition to the test scores, completion rate, required improvement and the dropout rate are used to determine the campus and district ratings under the new ratings system.
