BISD Open Enrollment

  • family No Boundaries header

Birdville ISD is accepting OPEN ENROLLMENT transfer applications March 8 – April 14, 2017 for resident and non-resident students for the 2017–18 school year.*

*This is the only planned Open Enrollment Application Period in 2017.

Question: Which is better for my family?
Because many BISD campuses were at or over capacity starting with the 2015–16 school year, the District began restricting open enrollment. The intent of this change was to: (1) return current BISD students to their home campus/feeder pattern based on District boundaries; and (2) continue restricting open enrollment students from outside BISD to only those campuses where space is available.

Starting with the 2017–18 school year, BISD will introduce programs at selected campuses as part of the Schools with a Specialization initiative. These programs go above and beyond the state-required curriculum, and are designed to broaden a student’s educational experience by providing concentrated study in a specific area of interest.
This General Overview is limited to the approved Schools with a Specialization for students in grades K–8.
