Through a partnership with North Hills
Hospital, Birdville ISD offers students interested
in careers in medicine, opportunities to experience
daily operations of a hospital by rotating through various
departments, including physical therapy, medical and surgical
nursing, pediatrics, laboratory, radiology, respiratory therapy,
and surgery. Spending 6-8 hours per week in a hospital setting helps
students learn about careers available and education and skills
necessary to meet their career goals.
North Hills Hospital was recognized for an instructional partnership of fifteen years with BISD’s Career and Technology Education program. For the past 15 years students from BISD high schools have gained experience in the field of Health and Medicine in BISD’s Health Science Technology Clinical Rotations program. Students spend three days per week during the school year rotating through all departments at North Hills, including Emergency Room, Medical Records, Lab and Operating Room. |
